Sour Obama grapes...
If Obama had gotten the Des Moines paper endorsement..you guys, Faux news and Tweety would be trumpeting this as the final nail in Hillarys coffin...
Instead..since Hillary got it..it is suddenly meaningless and "the kiss of death" because they are never right.
No wonder Obama turned to oprah..
sheesh..

3. The facts are the facts...
The register has never endorsed an eventual dem winner. That doesn't mean they never will, but it doesn't bode well for Team Hillary. With that said I was one of the first to congratulate Hillary's supporters on DU, because it will be a good day for them tomorrow.

Stop looking for everyone to be overly excited for someone elses candidate. Do you really think the Hillary supporters would have jumped up and down with joy if Obama got the endorsement?

6. If Obama had wined and dined the editors and staff and Yepsen, you can bet there'd be disgust too.
Also, the Des Moines Register endorsement read like a seal of approval for politics as usual and ignored her votes on IWR and Kyl-Lieberman
completely, which is not what the many here who count as the Democratic base can find admirable.

11. He's the head political guy in Iowa -- he's part of the picture and on board alright.
Otherwise Hillary wouldn't have spent two hours having a "private dinner" with him last week prior to this endorsement.
I'm sure this endorsement did not occur without the editors consulting with him.

The poison they spread and their lack of maturity. We have not only Obama, but Edwards, Biden, Dodd all of whom are heads and shoulders about clinton when it comes to the issues. the fact that she voted for kyl lieberman should have sounded the death nell for her candidacy.

30. I appreciate that
I only wish it were you running the campaign, because you are not an arrogant hubris filled self entitled prick.

THAT is the take away from the campaign at ground level. That is what comes from the top down.

You on the other hand, are a free thinking individual who appreciates what Hillary brings to the table. So do I. Would that it were you and people like you running things.

The main reason I'm not working for her is that collection of incompetent wacks whose only skill besides kissing beltway ass is staying inside a bubble of entitlement.

My god. What in the world is going on in the democratic party. How can anyone support this woman over any of the other candidates in this race. (Gravel aside).

There are many reasons not to support your candidate and they are legitimate reasons related to the issues.

It is fear for this country and fear for our children and grandchildren that comes into play when looking at some of Clinton's decidedly neo-con views on critical issues that face this country.

It is not "bashing" or "hatred" to expect more from the candidate who will represent our interests in the general election.

We don't all fall in lock step simply because its a "clinton".

I'd be asking much the same whoever the paper had endorsed: It's nice to be recognised but does this actually make a difference to anyone? Papers rarely endorse anyone here (Britain, although they do quite often say how terrible they think X is) and we seem to elect governments just fine without them.

49. OK, so Obama got the 'Globe' and Hillary got the DMR...
there will be others and the same group will still be with us complaining and whining.

Bottom line on the Hillary Haters is that they cannot stand the thought of a woman being president.

They claim all sorts of reasons, but that is what they are afraid of.

I note also that many of the Hillary Haters also seldom endorse other candidates...their only reason for posting is to distribute their thoughts on Hillary. Wonder what name these folks who repeat their nonsense post under at freerepublic. Are they strictly trolls who need to get smacked down?

If not Hillary, then what other woman would these folks endorse?

Edited on Sun Dec-16-07 04:11 AM by Prophet 451
The implication that someone must be a sexist, "hater" or closet Republican. The idea that someone might disagree with her policies is completely ignored in favour of the truly moronic assertion that everyone should stand up and salute her simply because she's a woman and a Clinton.

You want a woman I would endorse? OK, Barbara Boxer, Barbara Lee, Tammy Baldwin, Sheila Jackson-Lee and the late, lamented Barbara Jordan.

EDIT: I also couldn't care less if Obama got an endorsement from the Globe, Oprah or the Pope. As mentioned, I'm British and the whole idea that anyone would be swayed by an endorsement is highly unusual here.
