So what WILL you do if Obama is the nominee and the Rethugs
bring up his drug use?
Righteous indignation and oprah will not help him then..
do you REALLY think that the Repukes are too highminded to bring it up?
Plus you can knock out any Gay Democrats..
and the whispering campaign about the muslum crap will start and even though it is untrue..the Repugs are pro's..
So forget the Obama is my guy argument and tell us..
What will you do at that time to answer this..so far Obama hasn't shown he can fight and if he thinks this "velvet glove" approach will work in the General election, he is kidding himself.

or just deny everything related to those heavy user kindergarten days while he was dating Princess Diana - even if it's in print in his own book... deny deny deny - works for most everyone else.

2. You know this isn't some secret, right? That he wrote about it?
That sort of takes the excitement out of the story. The best thing he can do is to continue to be honest about it. At least he was young when he did it, unlike GW Bush.

9. No, his argument will be
he was young and did something dumb, I think most people can relate to it.

The fact that GW Bush was snorting blow at age 40 makes this Obama story less exciting. I just don;t think this is some G.E. dealbreaker.

His middle name is going to be a bigger issue than this.

35. You could say the same thing about any candidate
I can name just as many things about any of the other top candidates.
Even when someone like Kerry had nothing against him, they found something that you would never think could be used against him (his military service) and used it against him.

To argue that Obama would be different is just your bias against him showing through.

5. Make jokes just like we're doing now! Maybe the best way to fight off a
whispering campaign is to drag it out into the sun and poke fun at it!

Maybe thats what Hillary meant when she said now the fun starts!

You are right. I think this business of Clinton's people saying questions "aren't answered" after they've clearly been answered is fear-mongering nonsense. Thank you for - again - calling them out on their untruth about the question being "unanswered".....

18. Look, he brought this out himself in his memoir and has been very vocal about the mistakes
he made as a teen.

This is ridiculous. The right wing won't make a noise about it. they have their own skeletons with Bush.

the hillary campaign is using this and it will blow up in their faces.

This is a smear campaign and has been from the beginning and it is going just as planned. Shaheen took it on the sword for "his girl".

Sad and a pitiful shame!!!!

Go away now... play your childish games elsewhere!

At least Obama has owned up to his past indiscretions -- it shows he's more honest and trustworthy than the guy squatting at 1600 (and any candidate of the party that enabled him to get there).

13. IF Obama was ever the candidate that would be the least of his
worries from the republicans. I bet they have papers and papers and papers of stuff about Obama, Edwards, Richardson, Dodd and Biden. We know they have a lot of manufactured crap about Hillary. And it will be a constant battery against any one of the candidates who get the nomination.

15. Yawn
I often joke that nurses generally have colorful drug histories because it's the only way to pass pharmacology.

My own period of experimentation covered about two years and every drug I could get my hands on. In Boston, that was a lot.

When the time came to put away childish things, I did. So did Obama. So did most of the rest of us in this country.

So I'll look them right in the eye and yawn. I know damned full well they, too, had their share of experimentation. They're just too lame and cowardly to own up to it.

17. Obama doesn't need to feed them what they want.
If he's pressed about the past, all he has to do is discuss that he made mistakes and he's grown from them. He does not need to go into detail and he does not need to appease the media. The coke issue with Bush died because he didn't lie about it and didn't give them the fodder needed to continue onward. My biggest complaint about the whole Clinton affair was that he didn't just tell the media it was none of their business and that he would not be apart of their slime ball actions. Had he done that, I doubt the issue would've gained legs and he would not have looked like a complete liar when it leaked out.

Obama doesn't need to go into detail about what he did in his younger days. If this were last week or last year, I would think differently, but everyone at a young age makes mistakes. Successful people build on 'em.

19. THIS is a rumor
I deleted it and the whole delete file and I am sorry now. Back when I had my old email from the company that used to own our ISP, I got an email about Obama and his smoking. They did not say, but the suggested that the reason he was so skinny is he had lung cancer. It was one of those things that dissed Hillary for being a lesbian and Richardson an immigration suck up. That he wanted to turn this country over to the illegals. I only read it once but...they had something about every candidate. They even made fun of Kucnich for being so short. This is going to be the type of emails and crap that spreads from these people. They are masters of deception and vile and hate.

It was making the rounds. Since I no longer have that email address I have not gotten any more of that crap. But I think I went to one of the republican sites to read something and that got the email. I used to regularly get emails from Frist. I started to email back and say stop, but I changed my mind, because I wanted to find out what he was up to.

20. The rethugs will mention it; the Clinton camp did it despite their
highminded ideals to elevate their campaign and it made them look sleazy. To have someone who works for Clinton to offer up info, and then we're told Clinton wasn't aware of it, is disingenuous, especially when the same scenario happened a week earlier with the e-mails. It looks calculated and probably is.

30. I will vote for him, of course
My other options are
1) Don't vote
2) Write in "my guy" (Dennis Kucinich)
3) Vote for the (R)epu... ugh... no, that's NOT an option.

Everyone has flaws. Somehow I think that drug use in the late teens isn't the worst that could be brought out against any of our candidates, especially after the Bush regime's "legacy".
