I never Experimented with drugs
Edited on Fri Dec-14-07 05:17 PM by NewHampster
I hate that fucking MSM PC term, "I experimented with drugs in my stupid youth". Why can't politicians be honest and say they toked some weed, did some lines with a dollar bill and the sex was awesome if you could stay awake.

Well I for one never experimented with drugs.

I did them the old fashioned way.

A little Doors, Crystal Ships on the stereo, some Boones Farm Apple Wine, a glass coffee table, a McDonald's straw cut in half and....

Wait I must be dreaming.

2. Actually I never did
No set up line. I just never saw the point to be honest. Can't stand the act of even being close to smoking anything legal or otherwise, and the snortable stuff never appealed to me.

3. I didn't experiment either.
I had seen first hand, these substances destroy lives of loved ones in my family.
A cousin of mine has a substance abuse problems and it is quite bad.

16. Drugs did not destroy your loved ones lives...
Your loved ones destroyed their own lives and took drugs while they were doing it.

and alcohol. I think that people are idiots who think experimenting with drugs is "cool" or if not that then they have low self-esteem because they think they have to do it to fit in with the cool crowd.

10. Actually I think it is a form of curiosity
which is normal for youngsters. I grew up when there was a thriving drug culture and tried everything. I turned out fine though I know a lot of people who did not. I certainly did not have a low self esteem nor a need to fit in with any crowd.

6. Adderall - Look up Adderall
3 kinds of speed. Prescribed for ADHD across the United States.
"Smoother" than dexamphetamine alone,
dexamphetamine being more potent than methamphetamine.
Speed everywhere.

I did speed when I was a kid - I had ADHD
(Hint: Not a problem)

9. I got Ritalin in my back pack to stop me from doing things
like what I'm doing with all these flames today.

Doesn't work for shit but it does keep this old guy partially sane.

11. dude, this is the direct quote from his book (I assume ur talking bout Obama)
"I had learned not to care," he wrote. "I blew a few smoke rings, remembering those years. Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it. Not smack, though. ..."

how is this PC? yea he downplays his drug use when asked about it now. why wouldn't he? but he was very upfront and honest about it in his book. more so than any other viable candidate I can think of.

12. I agree and commend him for it. I just hate that word experiment
He didn't experiment as he tells high school kids. He did a little blow. Kids are much smarter than people give them credit for and the use of PC terms like "I experimented with drugs" just turn them off to the speaker.

Tell them "I did some blow". After explaining what that old term means, he can say and I have this nasty nasal drip to show for it.

17. Strikes me as a useful expression that is overused as a euphemism.
I never experimented with drugs, nor did I use. (Ok, I'm experimenting with *not* taking my beta-blocker now, but that's a different kind of thing.)

My best friend *did* experiment. After one or two tries with pot, a try with something harder (I forget what), he decided that it wasn't for him. That was the end of it, once and for all.

My best friend's brother experimented, and then he decided he rather liked them. He did them the old fashioned way (including convincing his ma that the marijuana growth on his windowsill was just a science project, and stupidly hiding some white powder in his older brother's improvised chem lab).

Saying my best friend used drugs would be incorrect, that implies use over time or repetition. He tried them a time or two. Saying his little brother experimented would be correct, but by not saying he continued on to long-term use the speaker would be intentionally misleading the listener to infer "but only tried them a time or two".

We really need a better tense-aspect system in this language.

The only 'experinmentation' involved was learning how not to cough like a dying dragon.

but hey, it's not like you're putting together a poll about "Punctual Pilot" or something - (actual DU thread tonight! I think it was in GD...)

On Edit: Punctual Pilot: you know, the Roman who did a big "thumbs down" on Jesus right there at the end.
