Obama Writes Opinion Piece For Iowa Student Newspaper
Posted by Brian Montopoli| 2

(AP)Barack Obama, who has been courting college students in his effort to win the Jan. 3rd Iowa caucuses, has penned an opinion piece for the Daily Iowan, the University of Iowa's student newspaper.

As UWIRE reported, the column touts Obama's positions on student loans, health care, Iraq, the environment, and other issues.

Under my plan, if you graduate and dont find a job that provides health insurance right away, you can stay on your parents insurance until youre 25, he wrote.

On December 4th, Iowa State's student newspaper, the Iowa State Daily, endorsed Obama. "Obama has not been afraid to throw a lot of his time and resources into trying to invigorate the younger crowd," noted the editors.

Students will be on vacation on the caucus date, but Obama has encouraged those who live out of state to return to campus early to caucus for him.

As UWIRE notes, at an appearance at Iowa State, Obama sought to reassure college students who might feel that they are not welcome at the caucuses.

"Dont let people tell you that you cant caucus," he said. "Youre Iowa students, you can be Iowa caucus-goers.

3. What if you don't go to college? Can you be on your parents insurance until you're 25?
I've always thought that extending parents' insurance only for college students was incredibly elitist. Most young people who are non-college grads don't make enough to get themselves insurance. They should also be able to stay on their parents insurance for a while. Or forever AFAIC.

Or how about we just have single payer for everyone and be done with it? This is one area where I disagree with all the leading candidates, including Obama. It's time to throw the bloodsucking private insurers out on their keisters!
