'Dukes of Hazzard' star stumps for Edwards
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 01:06 PM by Nutmegger
Iowa is John Edwards country, according to one of his more famous supporters.

"He has more of a heartland appeal because he is from the heartland," said actor/politician Ben Jones.

Jones, a former congressman from Georgia, is perhaps better known nationally as "Cooter" on the "Dukes of Hazzard" television show. He was in Council Bluffs Friday on behalf of his favorite presidential candidate. Edwards shares Iowa's values because Edwards himself grew up in a small, rural community like many Iowans, Jones said.

"I do believe he has heartland values," Jones said. "He's not an angry person, not a confrontational person. He's sending a positive message and in Iowa, that goes a million miles."

13. I Was Making A Factual Observation... No Need To Attack Me...
It would be no different than opining that Pee Wee Herman is no match in the ring for Sultan Ibragimov...

Oh, "uncouth" and "childish"... That was uncalled for... May I familiarize you with DU rules:

16. You Are Not Being Candid
If I said Mr. X seems like an asshole that's tantamount to saying he's an asshole...

Oprah's endorsement is huge... It is what it is... Outside of Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan I don't know of anybody with that type of celebrity...

8. You are correct.
You have to remember that he's an old-time Southern Democrat. Morals are just as important to us as Civil Rights.

9. Yes
However, he was not in Congress but he did do the rounds of the pundit shows to advocate for impeachment. He even spoke at a Freeper rally.

Anyway, I think old Ben is just climbing on the right tank, now that the hour of revolution is nigh.

10. Better yet...
Edited on Mon Dec-10-07 09:58 PM by Zueda
Considering that Cooter was for Clinton impeachment didn't he in essence help hand the white house to GW in 2000?

On edit: Let me try again..."COOTER HANDED BUSH THE WHITE HOUSE IN 2000!"...there, that's better.

Challenged him to a debate at one point I think...

He seems like a good guy. A good endorsement to have from one of the REAL Democrats!
