Ok for starters, for the first time in months, Obama is within single digits of Hillary. But what does ABC open with? This:

Hillary Clinton is holding off Barack Obama in New Hampshire with a single-digit but seemingly solid lead, scoring more committed and enthusiastic support, higher trust to handle pressing issues and broad margins on leadership, experience and electability.

Apparently the pollsters quantified how excited the respondents to the poll seemed, or how loud they screeched, when interviewed.
What a joke.

1. So they reported the polling firm's analysis of the results, instead of your notion of things?

How dare they.

Clinton's Lead Appears Solid in New Hampshire
The latest ABC News/Washington Post poll in New Hampshire shows Sen. Hillary Clinton leading the Democratic presidential race with 35% support, followed by Sen. Barack Obama at 29%, John Edwards at 17% and Gov. Bill Richardson at 10%.

Key finding: "Clinton's lead in New Hampshire inches up in lower-turnout scenarios, suggesting her support is more reliable. Moreover, among those who've definitely decided on their candidate, she leads Obama by a wide 43% to 28%; and among the most enthusiastic likely voters she leads him by 45% to 24%. There's no such difference in Iowa."

3. Perhaps The Gentlemen Didn't Read Past The First Paragraph
Clinton's lead in New Hampshire inches up in lower-turnout scenarios, suggesting her support is more reliable. Moreover, among those who've definitely decided on their candidate, she leads Obama by a wide 43-28 percent; and among the most enthusiastic likely voters she leads him by 45-24 percent. There's no such difference in Iowa.

Looking at the flipside, changeability, among the one in four likely voters who say there's a good chance they may change their minds, 23 percent currently support Clinton, 36 percent Obama. That suggests he's more vulnerable to reconsideration.

4. But saying that her lead is shrinking is more relevant than saying "she's fending off Obama"
Edited on Wed Dec-05-07 07:48 PM by antiimperialist
They act like it's good news for Hillary unless Obama overtakes her. What a low bar to jump.

6. Perhaps They Were Hedging
Edited on Wed Dec-05-07 07:51 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
Perhaps they were hedging in their analysis because their poll shows HRC with the smallest lead of the three polls taken during the same time period...

7. It's not a joke literally, and you know it
When one says "what a joke" the connotation is that it's a ridiculous poll.

It's true for anything. For example, if Giuliani says he can beat Hillary by 25%, I would say "what a joke", but you pretend to have thought it was said literally.

8. Ironically, Zogby lead with this headline: "Clinton suffers shrinkage"
Edited on Wed Dec-05-07 07:55 PM by antiimperialist
if that's the pollster who has her by 11%, you can now have an idea of how ludicrous ABC's opening was.
