Kucinich could get at least one serious opponent in 10th congressional

primary...

So far Rosemary Palmer, a former reporter, professional educator and the mother of a fallen soldier in Iraq, is the only announced candidate...

Although ernest and dedicated, she realistically stands little chance of beating the Kucinich well oiled grassroots organization...

But Mayor Thomas O'Grady, an US Army veteran and sometime democrat and sometime independent office holder in North Olmsted, is seriously considering a run against Kucinich...

In 1996, Kucinich ran for and won the democratic primary by crushing now former democratic mayor of North Olmsted Ed Boyle...

Why would Mayor O'Grady, who has spent almost as much time distancing himself from the democratic party as Kucinich has spent running for president, fare better than Boyle...

Rumor has it that a growing number of democrats in the 10th district are tiring of the Kucinich quest...

That rumor is backed up by a yet to be released poll conducted by a group of democratic leaders in the district that shows Kucinich to be vulnerable...

My guess is that ambitious political figures in the 10th will flood the race if the poll results, as rumored, show eroding support for the Congressman...

If Kucinich faces only one major opponent he could be in a tighter race than expected...

But if, as likely, ambitious political figures such as Parma Mayor Dean DePiero, Cleveland City Councilmen Matt Zone and Joe Cimperman and perhaps even Councilwoman Dona Brady jump in the race, Kucinich will prevail...

Things haven't been this interesting on the local level since seven democrats, including yours truly, ran for that same seat back in 1992 when the district was redrawn and incumbent Mary Rose Oakar was embroiled in the infamous Check kiting scandal...

1. Isn't Kucinich well liked in Ohio?
I had thought that since he was Mayor of Cleveland before he became a Senator of Congressperson, he was at least well thought of in his home state...

2. He had only one term as Mayor and the city defaulted under his rule...
It wasn't his fault though the establishment has never let up...
