Code Pink protesters are idiots
If we want to voice disagreement, there are proper ways to do it that don't reflect negatively on our causes. Its kinda hypocritical to invade an event (and someone's personal space) to yell at them about what you believe they've done wrong.

Hate Clinton? Condi Rice? Stage protests and write letters. Call the radio station. Form and opposition group to get your message out. But the stuff Code Pink does is way out of bounds, and suggests poor character. That's the stuff children do on the playground.

They are complete wackos.

They have to kick out babies for the Reich. Women have no business getting uppity about politics.
And GAWD DAMN how dare they work for peace when war is such a better way to serve the creator.
HOLY MOSES they should shut up and forget about the million dead Iraqi citizens and the over 4,000 dead brave fighting men and women over there to secure oil for Halliburton
JESUS CHRIST ON A TRAILER HITCH when will they shut up about accountability from officeholders and listening to the people?

I mean, jeez, who do they think they are? citizens excercising their rights to peacably assemble or something? We can't frickin have that, if we had those rights we'da put em in the constitution or something.

get a life code pinkers! get preggers, go barefoot, have more babies, stay out of politics!

15. They should show some class.
How easy is it for Code Pinkers to claim Bush and his crowd have done wrong - which they have. But if we do wrong also, then we are full of shit.

And before you start whining about me saying that, keep in mind that what I'm saying is the majority view of people who support the Geneva Conventions and want to end torture. What goes around comes around.

This stuff has to stop.

11. Put on your asbestos cloak.
Anyone who dares say anything negative about that bunch will have their ass handed to them! It is written!!

The trivializing of serious national matters with grandstanding, costumes and attention-seeking conduct doesn't help the causes they pretend to support. It infects the causes with a "flakiness" quotient that they don't deserve. It sure does heighten the profile of those who are dressing up in goofy outfits and getting THEIR pictures in the paper, though.

What those assholes did during the Plame testimony was disgraceful.

They aren't Martin Luther King's crowd, not by a long shot. They never will be, either.

That's tacky. And when someone does that, they can hardly claim they're on the side of doing what's right.

It is possible to do what's right without doing something wrong in the process. Dr King showed us that.

53. Yes, and here's why.
They give Fox Noise everything they could ever need to demonize anything CP's supposedly supports, and Average Jane and Joe would likely buy into that crap. So instead of gaining support, CP is keeping support away from the cause and may just be driving support to the other side.

21. It's the year 2007.

It's a media saturated world, with soundbites and video clips.

Their goal is to gain attention and create discussion / thinking.

They can protest in the free speech zones, they can write letters to the trash can in the White House's office, they can call Clear Channel and tell them what they think, none of which get the message out.

Do you think that ABC/CBS/NBC will ever give fair time on prime time to an alternative viewpoint? Nope. If they DID get on somehow, the questions would be about their methods, not their message.

They use their methods to encourage some people to go find out what the story is.

So, unfortunately, we have to rely on people like this to act like this.

34. I'm probably not the right person either.

But with the shape of our democracy, somebody needs to be saying something.

Many of us here will only ever post on a forum. Some will march. Some will get arrested. But there need to be groups fighting the good fight.

Imagine when a Democrat takes office, what will opposition groups have to argue for? What issues will they gravitate toward that are important enough to risk arrest?

I mean, they can't protest a bad tie, they can't protest work programs, I can't see an honest protest about anything from the other side.

So, since we have true issues to complain about, and serious grievances against our representatives, this protest method is the only way to go.

I think the biggest risk for a Democrat in office will be that they do something stupid that panders to corporations at the expense of the people. Corporations aren't a bad thing, but selling out the voters FOR a corporation is something else. Again, we won't see many Republican voters protesting anything, since they have no ground to stand on.

It's going to be interesting.

22. And exactly how are YOU bringing people's attention to these issues?
Are you out there doing something? Are you willing to put your life on hold and your body on the line to get arrested speaking out at a hearing just so it's ON THE RECORD that there ARE people who disagree with giving Bush all the money his little heart desires?

We got tired of writing letters and making phone calls that get no results except the standard I will keep your thoughts in mind as I cast my vote, while the idiots vote the opposite way anyway. We are not willing to just sit by and hope that someone does something to change things. We may not be doing things the way YOU would choose to do them, but we sure as heck seem to be the only ones out there trying. Where are YOU while we are doing all those things that embarrass you so much?

I think some of the stuff they have done is on the same level with abortion clinic protesters who
harass women going inside and hold up signs with pics of bloody fetuses. I don't agree with that either.

I wouldn't say they were idiots though, I'm sure they all mean well. They think they are martyrs for their cause.

I think people who resort to this sort of attention-grabbing stuff have issues. That doesn't mean they are wrong,
but I think they marginalize themselves and in the final analysis do little to effect (affect?) change.
