Watching a bunch of Sunday morning bobble-heads, the theme is that same as it is every week: "America wants to move past partisan politics."

This is no big surprise... all bobble-head conventional wisdom boils down to preserving the economic status quo as represented by the Republicans. When Republicans are on top we don't hear too much about the horrors of politics. But when Democrats are poised to deal serious wounds to the Republicans the cry goes up for political disarmament.

There was plenty of opportunity for Republicans to unilaterally de-fang the partisan viper in 2002 and 2004, but I don't seem to recall it happening. Funny how that works...

This is not the time for national unity on center-right terms. (The only terms the CW crowd knows.) All calls for unity and setting aside partisanship and reaching across the aisle and healing read and blue are calls to prevent a political realignment.

When I look at Hillary's perplexing strength among everyday Democrats, including her strength with peace-movement and progressive voters, I am left to conclude that one thing trumps her lousy personality, political baggage and vacuous pronouncements...

People know that she HATES Republicans. She doesn't offer partisan reconciliation or fundamental change within the party. But people trust her to treat the Republicans like hammered dog-shit... to drive them backward, not throw them a life-line while their party collapses.

1. You are so on target. So much so, IMO, that she is now my second choice.
My sig line reflects why.

2. This is why I don't want Obama....
and he MUST lose! Hillary is a fighter! Of the front runners, she is my first choice. I am voting for Biden, but sadly, he is too far behind to win at this point, but we'll see. Even though I disagree with him, my second choice would be Edwards, because he too wants to take the fight to the GOP. Please, please, don't let it be Obama. The only reason that asshats such as Andrew Sullivan and Chuckie Krauthammer are banging the Obama drum is because they know he will not fight to win during the GE next year. I want a warrior as our next President (A Democrat of course). As you said, this unity shit is
just a way for the right wing and pundit class to prevent a political realignment!
