After 35 years of getting things done, there's naturally going to be some legislation that isn't embraced. It's smarter to go with the person who has the knowledge and experience, even if he/she has a few things that you don't like, then to assume a newbie is better prepared and somehow pure. Personally, I don't think filing for bankruptcy is the way to go about getting out from under your bills. There are certainly better ways and Sen. Biden obviously agrees. I had a business partner who used the old system to run up our bills while pocketing the money that was supposed to be going toward those bills, ran us out of business, then filed for bankruptcy. He had it planned that way. He couldn't have done that after the bankruptcy bill was passed. Biden doesn't believe in sitting on his hands when there's work to be done. He believes in always thinking about how to move the ball forward. And if this bill was so egregious, why aren't the candidates clamoring now to have it changed? Haven't heard a peep. The bankruptcy laws can always be improved. Democrats are in charge of Congress now. What's being done? Perhaps there are bigger fish to fry. This whole bankruptcy bill thing is just a red herring to try to keep the most qualified candidate from making the newbie front runners look like the school kids that they are.

7. Make no mistake

If you read the info provided you'll note that the bill protected credit card companies more than anyone. Bill did not even address large corporations or folks with higher incomes. He chose to support credit card companies over middle class and working class America. If you look at the defeated amendments to this bill you'll see soldiers in Iraq, uninsured Americans with major medical bills from cancer are just some of the folks who can lose everything because of this legislation. I am a 65 year old grandmother raising 5 grandchildren because of family tragedy. We've lost our home and all of our savings rather than file for bankruptcy but became interested in Sen Biden's position because of a question he couldn't or wouldn't answer at an open event this summer.

By the way, one of the newbie's is proposing rolling back some of this legislation to provide help for victims of catastrophic events - doesn't even mention Biden's role - what a class act.

9. So Joe supports the #1 employer of the people here in Delaware

I'm not saying the bill is perfect and there was alot of last minute crap written into the law by the republican controlled congress (who were notorious for putting extra stuff into the bill).

But you'll see Mary Landrieu vote the same way with Oil Industry related bills and even Blanche Lincoln will alway support anything pro-Wal-Mart.

Joe does NOT own that Bankerupcy Bill - that was a republican written bill. He simply voted the way his state would want him to vote since the bulk of us work or are related to someone who works for one of the many many many banks established in Delaware. Tom Carper did the same exact thing.

But to toss this guy aside because of one issue means that, at least to me, EVERY SINGLE CANDIDATE INCLUDING KUCINICH IS NOT QUALIFIED TO BE PRESIDENT because all of them have done something to piss me off (google Kucnich and choice - nuff said)

17. Personally, I think personal responsibility is a good thing.

And I don't think we should have laws that make stealing legal. I'm sorry for your misfortune, but to blame Sen. Biden for that is simply disingenuous.

I know a little about tragedy myself. The most recent example was losing everything I owned in Hurricane Katrina, but I don't blame our politicians nor do I expect tax payers to make me whole again. I do fault our federal government, and Bush in particular, for doing such a lousy job of helping us just before and after the storm. I did get some immediate assistance to allow me to survive until I was able to get a job and get back on my feet.

Life is hard. It's always been hard for me, but I don't go around blaming others and I certainly don't blame some senator who voted on a bill that prevented the American tax payer from having to bail me out. Why should they? To be against Sen. Biden because you didn't like the way he voted on a bill is ludicrous in my opinion. He's got too much to offer our entire country. And apparently whoever you're referring to about a new bankruptcy bill isn't making it nearly as much of a priority as you are because I haven't heard one peep about it during this primary.

15. I agree with you, some people just try to scam the system

and abdicate all responsibility for repayment of their debts, these scofflaws have no business just opting out of paying off credit cards. I am sympathic to those who have to declare bankruptcy due to medical expenses or if they have become incapacitated due to injury. Granted, perhaps the bankruptcy law is not perfect, but that doesn't stop me from supporting Biden now that I have gotten to know him better.

we might as well give up on having elections. Hell Kucinich would be eliminated simply for his practically lifetime support of the anti-choice movement

last time I checked he represented Delaware. Hell, if I should be pissed at anyone it should be at Kucinich for his YEARS of anti-choice votes. Then he suddenly 'flip-flops' when he decides to run for president.

If Kucinich never ran for president would he still be voting anti-choice?

Any one action or vote or any HUNDRED votes couldn't even touch what was done in the 90s to protect Poppy Bush and his cronies from accountability.
