I just received a 'survey' call (I was told it was not a poll when I asked who was paying for it)

I just received a 'survey' call (I was told it was not a poll when I asked who was paying for it)
The call was from an 'independently owned research firm' that apparently has no name.

1) Who will you support in the Iowa Caucus (I am undecided so it left the pollster...er..um...surveyer to go ahead w/out any slant)

2) Is the country moving in the right direction or on the right track?

3) Which candidate would you be less likely to support - one that is:
a) inconsistent in their positions b) would make a weak general election candidate c) will not bring change to Washington D.C.

4) Which candidate would you be less likely to support - one that is:
a) one that would be a week general election candidate because they are too liberal b) a trial lawyer

5) How often does your family live pay check to pay check?

6) Do you believe driver's licenses should be given to illegal immigrants?

7 & 8) Anyone in the house a teacher - a Union member?

4. Could be GOP ?
The Trial Lawyer bit made me think anti-Edwards, but then the DL bit made me think anti-Clinton

13. This question isn't designed to bring up
too many negatives for Democratic voters.

"one that would be a week general election candidate because they are too liberal"

They are trying to determine what's important to you.

5. Sounds like one of those call someone posted about yesterday.
Questions 3 and 4 are pretty clearly suggesting which candidate they are talking about. An obama suggestive question is conspicuously absent.

9. A legitimate firm should be willing to provide its name.
I wouldn't talk to anyone else.

12. When I was in college, I worked for a legitimate firm. The proper practice
is to announce the name of your firm and the purpose of the call in the first sentence, followed by an assurance of how your answers will be kept confidential.

If they don't do that, I just hang up on them.

18. For one thing, sometimes it's just a backdoor way to a sales pitch.
Other times, it's a fake poll, where they're really just trying to plant information in the minds of those polled.

If you have time to waste and don't care about confidentiality or what they do with your replies, then great. But that's not how I feel.

19. How would my opinion open me up for a breech of confidentiality?
I didn't give them my birthday or SSN - I told them whether or not I thought the country was headed in the right direction.
And AMWAY was not mentioned once in the call. :hi:

20. Sometimes they ask very personal questions -- like your age, income, etc.
I'm sure you're smart enough not to hand out personal information without knowing what's going to happen with it.

I only gave them my AMX number and for some reason they wanted that little code on the front of the card....

14. I've gotten really nasty with them lately (but two or three of these a day will do that to a person)
They ask if I plan to caucus, and I say "Sure, always do, wouldn't miss it." And they say eagerly, "Which candidate do you intend to support?"

And I say sweetly, "Oh, I never discuss that with anyone," and wait for them to deflate and hang up.

I know it's nasty, but I am so sick and tired of "survey" calls and robo calls with Hillary shrieking at me.

11. Never agree to answer questions until you requeest firm's name ...
and verify that they are legit (ask them to hold and google them). They will not tell you on whose behalf they are conducting the survey (that would skew results).

If they don't give a name, then tell them you can't participate ... (and as a corollary, you don't want to hear their questions).

If a candidate is doing voter ID--a kind of survey in which they go through their lists and try to identify their supporters (or cross off lists those who are supporting other candidates) ... the caller should tell you immediately, "I'm calling on behalf of the X campaign." Anything other than that, hang up.
