Cong. Jim Moran (D-NoVA)'s Impeachment Survey
Edited on Thu Nov-15-07 08:08 AM by spooky3
Cong. Moran sent his constituents this survey:

Dear Friend,

Last week, the House voted to send articles of impeachment against Vice President Cheney to the Judiciary Committee for hearings and more thorough consideration of this issue.

I would appreciate it if you would fill out the survey below and better inform me on how you think Congress should approach this issue.

Sincerely,
James P. Moran

(after I completed it, the results so far appeared on screen:)

Which one of these four statements do you agree with about Vice President Cheney:
Vice President Cheney has abused his powers as Vice President which rise to the level of impeachable offenses under the Constitution, and he should be impeached and removed from office. 58.12%
Vice President Cheney has abused his powers as Vice President which rise to the level of impeachable offenses under the Constitution, but he should not be impeached. 10.73%
Vice President Cheney has abused his powers as Vice President, but the abuses are not serious enough to warrant impeachment under the Constitution. 10.21%
Vice President Cheney has not abused his powers as Vice President. 20.94%

Regardless of whether or not you believe the Vice President should be impeached, do you think the Judiciary Committee should begin hearings to look at the evidence of possible impeachable offenses?
Yes, I think the Judiciary Committee should begin impeachment hearings. 60.10%
No, I think impeachment hearings would be a waste of time and a distraction from more important issues Congress should address. 39.90%

2. That's a shocker! I recall Moran at a town hall meeting with Murtha
about a year or so ago, and he flat-out discounted impeachment. This has got to equate to some progress.

Do you have a link for anyone who might live in his area?

3. Moran goes back and forth on this issue
I give him credit, he was a co-signer of House Res 333 and my Impeachment Committee has met with his staff and talked with him directly on impeachment. In person when you talk to him, as I have, he favors it, but in public he tends to run scared. I think the leadership in the House has put the clamp down on members even talking about impeachment. Moran has done some brave things, like host a forum on Iran, yet will publically stop short of a full endorsement of impeachment.

He is the Congressman in the district next to mine and our Impeachment Committee, Virginians for Peace and Accountability worked both the 8th (his) and 11th (Tom Davis) Congressmen.

11. I interpret this as he is trying to be a good little - d democrat
He knows many in the public are really upset with the Dem. leadership for not doing what they want, and he isn't sure whether impeachment would respond to the public discontent or would be perceived as making matters worse by being a "distraction" from solving problems in Iraq, health care, the economy, etc. So he really wants to know what his constituents think.

but he also has whole neighborhoods in his district with "Impeach them Both" yardsigns. Believe me, I never saw so many people for impeachment in my life as live in his district in South Arlington.

P. S. - yes one of our members was responsible for dispersing said yard signs :)

9. I've seen those signs but with a "Them Both" sticker placed under the word
"Impeach."

A LOT of them, in both Arlington and Alexandria.

Impeach Now Or Face the End of Constitutional Democracy

By PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS

07/17/07 "ICH ' -- -- Unless Congress immediately impeaches Bush and Cheney, a year from now the US could be a dictatorial police state at war with Iran.

Bush has put in place all the necessary measures for dictatorship in the form of "executive orders" that are triggered whenever Bush declares a national emergency. Recent statements by Homeland Security Chief Michael Chertoff, former Republican senator Rick Santorum and others suggest that Americans might expect a series of staged, or false flag, "terrorist" events in the near future.

Many attentive people believe that the reason the Bush administration will not bow to expert advice and public opinion and begin withdrawing US troops from Iraq is that the administration intends to rescue its unpopular position with false flag operations that can be used to expand the war to Iran.
