I think this election is too important to have people like Colbert fucking around like this. I love the guy, but this is irresponsible. Any dilution of the vote could hurt us. And trust me, there WILL be a Nader-esque dilution of the vote. People will actually vote for Colbert who might have otherwise voted for a real candidate.

Pat Paulsen used to do this stuff in the sixties and seventies. I'm hoping Steve is just trying to channel that comedic good will, but I sure hope it doesn't backfire. Which, actually, I don't think it will. This is South Carolina, after all, not exactly a Democratic stronghold anyway.
