Bold prediction for 2008: Romney/Huckabee beat Hillary/her VP
Edited on Wed Oct-31-07 05:16 AM by wiseguy182
Romney and Huckabee is shaping up to be the Republican ticket. Romney is leading in all 3 of the first 3 states to hold primaries/caucuses: Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. And Huckabee is surging in Iowa and elsewhere. And alot of times its better to have momentum then the lead (look at Kerry in 04, for example.) Their both governors, which tend to get elected. Romeny could carry Massachussets, the state he governed, which normally would go for Dem. Huckabee would probaby carry Arkansas, which might have went for Hillary since she is from there. The other candidates are not faring as well. Thompson started off slow and then tapered off, Tancredo and Hunter are virtual non-entinties, Ron Paul is too far to the left to his party, and Guiliani is losing momentum.

Hillary will do what Kerry and Gore did, come close, but end up on the short end of the stick.

I know I might be repetitive about Bill Richardson, but he should be able to flip Flordia, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico. Do well with the Hispanic vote, and he has the most experience, he's the best candidate on energy and environmental matters, and foreign policy. And he's a governor. I can't stress it enough.

if the Democrat doesn't carry Massachusetts.

5. The last time that a Democrat
Didn't win Massachucetts in a Presidential Election was a LONG time ago....the Democratic nominee will win Massachucetts, yes, Massachucetts poses no problem to whoever our nominee might be.

2. You're posting this defeatist stuff for WHAT reason exactly?
We're attempting to be positive about our chances.

And no I don't think Mitt Romney and that looney Huckabee "abortion is like the Holocaust" would be able to win.

Senator Clinton will get the nomination, and her Veep candidate will either be Bill Richardson or Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana.

Our ticket will be either:

Clinton/Richardson or Clinton/Bayh....and either ticket will win....you just watch and see if they don't.

10. Huh?
You say it's not defeatist, you then say "I just fear will lose again."

That's called having a defeatist attitude.

16. Yeah I do
Because even those who say that now, when it comes down to it....will hold their noses and vote for Senator Clinton.

Between now and the day before the election, the GOP are going to get increasingly fanatical and crazy sounding, especially about Iran....so ya know.

4. Your Post Contradicts Itself
You're asumming there's a possibility Hillary Clinton takes Bill Richardson as her running mate and carries FL, CO, AZ, and NM...Assuming NY and Cali are in the bag for the Dems how do the Rethuglicans ever get to 270 Electoral College Votes

8. Florida WILL be a tough fight again
I can't rightly say that I'm sure we can nail Florida.

I think Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Montana and Indiana would be easier than Florida....especially IF Senator Evan Bayh is on the ticket, I think he could pull Indiana into our column....he's been their longtime Governor and now is their longtime Senator.

9. not really
the republicans could keep Iowa, and flip New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, for example. That would be around 270, give or take, I don't have the math to look at right now.

22. yeah, but
Bush was conservative. If a moderate is the GOP candidate and faces a liberal, I would say the state's more likely to go repub in that instance. I can't guarantee it of course, but a moderate might fair better than one to the far end of the spectrum. Keep in mind, the state usually votes for GOP senators, last year we did well though in that regard.

34. Elections Have A Rhythm And A Flow
If a Dem is carrying Florida, Colorado, and New Mexico as you suggest he or she is also carrying stars like Pennsylvania and Massachusetts...

If a Dem can't carry Massachussetts that Dem is probably on the way to losing forty nine or fifty states..

7. Wow. Did you just demonstrate how little you know about MA politics
or what? No way, no how, that Romney can win in MA. It's just not possible.

I actually think Clinton would beat Romney like a cheap drum. His record of flip flops is so astounding, and her machine is so good, that she'd beat him to a pulp.

Gloom and doom. gloom and doom.

If this country is stupid enough to vote for a republican for president, then they deserve everything they get.

And if Democrats are stupid enough to help them, then WE deserve everything we dont get.

I was worried about Thompson for about minute until he came out of the gate and was an instant joke.

Their whole line up are extremists, "marginalists", and "personalities."

Face it. Whoever we nominate, will win.

people are starting to find out his skeletons--he's directly responsible for a woman's rape and murder, and he's also got a lot of ethics problems. Romney is ultimately not very likable--anyone who has a problem with Hillary sure isn't going to find Mittens much better.
