Harry Truman's quote about apologizing to Republicans
He said, "Carry the battle to them, don't let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive and don't ever apologize for anything."

It's obviously that the Democratic leadership today has no sense of their own history and don't seem to give a rip about it anyway.

I still can't believe Pete Stark apologized. I never saw this one coming.

1. I saw it
not because I wanted to, but because the party leadership has MUZZLED the real anti-war voice...

I still have no idea other than the obvious as to why they are shooting themselves in the foot- Tackling Bush on this would be SO easy! Everything he's done involving the Iraq Invasion has been HIGHLY illegal, and can be condemned and attacked as such.

2. I just don't understand what it is about Bush...
It still amazes me that so late in the game, this guy still gets everything he wants. He plants shit and gets roses.

He's got a year and a few months left...why are they so scared of this ambulatory pile of excrement?

3. Unfortunately, Truman's motto is the battle cry of the Repukes
It appears that Dixiecrats took Truman's motto with them when the joined the Repuke Party and Tom Dewey Repukes migrated into the Dem Party to escape the Dixiecrats.

4. How many times have we seen this routine play out?
1. Dem makes a statement that shows a tiny amount of spine.
2. Repubs go apeshit with fake outrage, demand apology censure resignation arrest execution etc.
3. Liberal media picks up repubs fake outrage ("they hate the troops") and begins demanding apology etc
4. Dem leadership hears liberal media calls for apololgy etc, shits pants, and denounces dem who showed spine.
5. Real dems on the internets applaud dem who showed spine
6. Dem who showed spine apologizes for showing spine

I was hopeful this time would be different but I should have known better

5. Harry Truman is to the current Dem leadership ...
as Charles Atlas is to the 95-pound weakling.

as Godzilla is to your pet gecko.

as Bruce Springsteen is to Donnie Osmond.

as a German Shepherd is to a chihuahua.

as a water buffalo is to a field mouse.

as Albert Einstein is to Dumb and Dumber.

as George Washington is to Benedict Arnold.

Oh yeah, as Pete Stark (pre-apology) is to Pelosi, Emanual, Reid, and the rest of the wimps, appeasers, and enablers.

Feel free to add your own.

9. Didnt you see the poll-Swing-voters prefer weak, lispy voiced chumps....
...who always admit that their opponents are right.

The John Wayne or Clint Eastwood archetype never gets anyone elected. Barney and Mr. Rogers is more like it.

"I am always wrong-and I apologize-please be nice to me-let's get along..." gets more votes than "Saddle up for the long ride" or "Go ahead-Make my day"- that is clear. ;)
