Will Jim Neal beat Liddy Dole?
by Anglico

If you weren't around BlueNC yesterday morning, you missed what may very well be the biggest story in North Carolina politics in decades. Live-blogging for an hour, Democratic candidate for Senate Jim Neal hung George Bush around Liddy Dole's neck, and then dropped some big news in response to this comment:

I've heard . . .

I've heard you're gay...

Gay

I am indeed. No secret and no big deal to me -- I wouldn't be running if I didn't think otherwise

And there you have it. A successful businessman who happens to be gay is going to kick Liddy Dole's tired old butt right here in the southern part of heaven....

1. It'd be A-OK with me if he did.
Senator Dole takes up a lot of space and oxygen that could be used by someone who's actually interested n public service.

3. odds
What do you's think the odds are that Kitty will lose? I think this is a second-tier race, with some hope for a win. While I do think Dole has the advantage, she does face a couple of problems: the state's Dem governor is popular, meanwhile the other senator, Republican Richard Burr, has consistently low approval ratings. Additionally, while this seat has been in republican hands for quite some time, the dem's are always competitive, and I believe have at least gotten 45% of the vote in every election in recent history. But they haven't been able to get past the finish mark. Is there hope we can get past the finish line this time?

4. Here's another twist
to this story. Neal may have competition.
