5. he's done a lot in promoting the environment
Edited on Fri Oct-12-07 02:57 PM by pnutbutr
but he's not completely innocent.

His support and ownership in shares of Occidental oil could come back to bite him. Check out what Occidental did in Columbia.

I still think his recent actions have earned him the right to the award.

7. Even worse is to read the nasty comments that have been sent in.
You can read these here:

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/10/12/gore.nobel.reader.feedback/index.html

There is also a link near the top, at the right hand side of the page, where readers can add their own comments. DUers -- here's a chance to publicly support Al Gore!

9. Actually one of our enviro profs opposed it.
His argument was that Gore is really just a "marketing" guy, and that all of the facts and figures he's presenting were compiled by other people. Even the movie was directed, produced, and funded by other people.

His position was that Al Gore essentially played the part of an actor in a movie, and that no matter how influential that movie may have been, it is not appropriate for someone to win a Nobel for an acting job.

It was his opinion. I disagreed with it, but it's a reasoned argument and I can somewhat see where he is coming from.

15. Does he take into consideration
Gore's history with global climate change since the '70's? Gore's an intelligent man and he has a lot of imput into how this slide show was presented and he knows it backwards and forwards. Anybody who knows anything about Al Gore knows "he's not just acting".

I don't think it's "reasoned" at all. I think it's a juvenile argument.

16. You asked this question
"AND who the hell thought of even ASKING that question?"

The same corporate media that blatantly lied to the American People as to the qualities and shortcomings of our prospective leaders for the better part of two years prior to the selection of 2000, I hear crow tastes like shit.

The same corporate media that told the American People Al Gore was a serial liar and couldn't be trusted because he claimed to have invented the Internet, which of course he never did, this was just one of many slanders and libels against his character.

Ironically, I believe the corporate media was primarily motivated because Al Gore did indeed champion the Internet with his congressional legislation opening it up to all the people and as the Internet grew in power and influence, the corporate media came to fear and resent it and by natural extension the political leader most responsible for the Internet's current form, because the Internet threatens their monopoly on information, information = power, money and influence. The Internet is making the task of controlling the message and there by brain washing the people more difficult for the corporate media. I believe it also threatens their stranglehold on the vast sums of money required to run for President. In short I believe the corporate media don't want an Internet sympathetic leader in the White House. I also believe the corporate media will do their best to install someone that will make it easier for them to find a way to take the Internet over in one form or another.

Before CNN ever asked that question they owed it to the American People to level with them on how the corporate media including CNN slandered Al Gore for so many years. Most trusted name in news my ass!
