Florida is the key to drafting Gore
I just posted this diary at DailyKos.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/4/81943/3550

"In Florida, the unique circumstances of primary election chaos has given us Gore supporters an opening to express our support. As stated in the Florida Delegate Selection Plan the Florida Democratic Party, in the form of state party Chair Karen Thurman, has the authority to place a person on the Florida primary ballot whether that person is an announced candidate or not."

1. Hmm. I'm in FL. Gore is my choice. Sounds like a plan.
Well done. :applause:

3. I didn't see this enthusiasm when I was there. Sounds like
more trouble making to me.

4. The last Florida poll I saw that included Gore
had him second only to Hillary on 7/16/07. Not bad for a non-candidate. here is a quote from the pollster: http://ivrpolls.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=1

"Gore support was basically unchanged, with 19% saying they would definitely switch if he entered, and another 36% saying they would possibly switch. Last month was 20% and 34% respectively."

And when is it mischief to be politically active?

5. I'm questioning intensity. Florida's Dems were passive for a sorry reason
I lived there on and off for a decade and saw local politics too closely. There was enough effort to support national candidates against entrenched interests when the party was unified ... nothing I saw suggests there's organization or resources to push an undeclared candidate who's not even a "favorite son".

This idle speculation is a waste of keystrokes. I've given my personal perspective and that's enuf.

7. You reinforce my point that Florida is in an unusual position.
With the announced candidates pledged not to campaign there, the organizational playing is as close to even as it can get. And given the emotional history of the 2000 non-recount, Gore is the closest thing to a favorite son Florida has in this election cycle.

That and the animosity generated by the DNC and presidential candidates by ostracizing Florida, give Dem Party Chair Karen Thurman all the incentive in the world to put Gore on the ballot.

6. Well, it's not like Florida doesn't owe him. BIG TIME.
A little late to make amends, but better than nothing.
