Kucinich refuses to endorse the Democratic Speaker in her race against an Independent...

"I like Cindy,” Kucinich said. “She has been a very important spokesperson in challenging the war. She and I marched together against the war.”

He said he doesn’t comment on races waged against incumbents as a “matter of policy.”

Does every Democrat have to get in line behind everyone who has a D after their name?

1. Uh, around here, yes. Haven't you heard?
"Does every Democrat have to get in line behind everyone who has a D after their name?" <-- That's precisely the expectation. Are you surprised?

22. So they can't find a progressive Democrat to run against Pelosi?
And people can support Cindy all they like. They just can't campaign for her here. That is all.

24. You mean support her in silence.
Because expressing support would be in and of itself campaigning for her, am I wrong?

25. I think it's very specific
Supporting her anti war efforts is okay. Bringing up something she's said I would think is okay, unless what she said has something to do with beating Pelosi. Just don't bring up the Congressional race.

3. No!!!
The democrats in Connecticut showed us that we do not have to do that by voting Lieberman out in the primaries. But not enough of the could bring themselves to follow through & make sure he did not get back to DC. Nancy Pelosi refuses to impeach Bush because of the promises she made to the new "Blue Dog" democrats. Cindy will not carry that same baggage. Kucinich is not one to pander to to someone to get elected. He is one of the few in DC who will stand up to the politicians.

If he was posting here supporting an Independent against a Democrat, then he would face the wrath of DU.

8. Kucinich actually speaks to the traditional values of the
Democratic Party. The real crime against the party is being committed by the DLC Democrats who are trying to pull the party to the right and away from it's working class roots with it's corporate a**licking Republican Lite principles.

The argument I heard over and over (and with which I agreed) , in relation to Joe Lieberman...

13. And if the Democratic nominee supports preemptives wars we
should all just get in line behind them? If they vote for bills to take away our rights (Patriot Act) we should again fall in line? etc.

Where do you draw the line?

millions of people's lives are effected based on his decision not to endorse anyone in that particular race.

28. No. No Democrat has to get behind everyone
who has a "D" after their name, despite the aggressive bullying tactics of some, and the rules on this particular site. DU is not affiliated with the Democratic Party, and does not represent the party.

All it takes is the Democratic voter to do what so many want the Democrats they've voted into Congress to do: grow a spine and actively oppose the corruption rotting the party from the inside out.
