GOP lacks cash to compete in key districts
GOP lacks cash to compete in key districts

Top Republicans are privately bracing for the possibility that they could lose additional House seats in next year’s elections as a result of untimely retirements, ongoing scandals and unexpectedly gloomy fundraising forecasts, according to several members and aides.

It seems every day brings more bad news for Republicans. As Politico first reported Friday, House Majority Leader John Boehner and his campaign chief, Oklahoma Rep. Tom Cole, are at war over campaign tactics and operations. Boehner is demanding a major shake-up at the National Republican Congressional Committee.

The dust-up might be the least of the GOP’s problems. Three House Republicans in very competitive districts recently announced their retirements — and several more senior GOP members have hinted they may do the same.

Put simply, Republicans lack the money to fight seriously for many of these seats. The NRCC is essentially broke, with more debt than money in the bank. “When you look at what’s going on in the House, the prospects for getting back on track are pretty dim at the moment,” said Rep. Ray LaHood (R-Ill.).

2. Translation: "Send money now or the KWEERS will take yer GUNS!!!"
These guys are no better than the hucksters on TV.

The REAL story is all of the Repuke scandals, but they are trying to soften that blow with a bunch of other crap.

3. Dear GOP
Maybe you can start to understand how underfunded and poorly supplied soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan feel.

4. For starters....
"House Majority Leader John Boehner..." should read House Minority Leader...

Other than that, I think it is about time the GOP bagmen decided to hold back...:D

5. GASP! The Politico made a mistake like that?
Good catch!

And I can't find a whole lot of sympathy for the lot of 'em!

8. I have no sympathy for them at all, in fact, it's kind of nice to
see them hitting the skids...

Of course it is still early, but generaly speaking, the cash-grubbing R's usually do rather well, it speaks volumes that they are entering a period of fiscal drought. With all the money made by the usual fat-cats, you'd think they'd pony up. Looks to me they know the GOP is in tailspin...
