The fact that a bill that was designed to support our troops failed this week really burns my butt.
And I totally blame the Dems for its failure.

I watched most of the debate and I was appalled. And I felt sorry for Webb.
The majority of the little dems that got up to speak in support of the Webb amendment seemed like they had written their speeches ahead of time. But the way the debate was being held was to have the dems and the repugs take alternative turns on the Senate floor. A repug would be up there and say how this would hurt the military, blah, blah, blah. Then it was a dems turn. Instead of having an intelligent reply to what bs the repug just said, they would stand there and read their perfectly prepared speech. This went on and on and on.
It wasn't until right before the vote that Webb got up and took the repugs argument apart. He was one of the few that spoke that day that was using his head instead of his notes. The majority of dems that got up to speak in support of his bill, didn't help him one bit. They just practiced their reading skills.

What is wrong with them?
Do they not understand anything about framing the debate?
Do they not understand that they need to be prepared for what the opposition may say?
Do they not understand that sometimes you need to think on your feet?
I thought that there were alot of attorneys on our side. One would think that some of them learned the basics of debating before they were elected to the Senate.

The repugs always say that we don't support the troops. And guess what - they are still saying it.
It should be the other way around by now.

I think the leadership that we have now needs to pay attention to what the other side is doing.
Because I will give the repugs credit for that. They may be a bunch of heartless a-holes, but at least they
know how to frame an issue and win a debate. Just look at the Moveon ad. That passed the Senate, but taking care of the troops didn't. Give me a break.

I just had to get that off my chest. ugh!

1. It burns my butt too. I really thought this amendment would stand a
better chance than it did, and I wanted Chimpy to veto it in front of the troops and the American people. The GOP Senate has revealed where its true priorities lie, but will they suffer any consequences? Probably not.

2. It's just making me sick how the dems can't get anything done.
And the repugs still can beat us.

3. I just don't understand how this happened. It was a no-brainer -- all it was
asking for was to give the troops a little more time off. Who wouldn't support that??

Do you any of the reasoning by those who opposed it?
