Kucinich, Iowa and putting things in perspective
Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 07:01 PM by slipslidingaway
We do not know all the facts as to why Dennis did not attend the events in Iowa and has not campaigned more actively in the state in 2008. I have sought, and will continue to seek, answers from his headquarters to this question. Since I posted part of an email that I sent to his HQ, another thread in the politics forum arose that may have come from my posting, of course this thread and the replies have been used to attack Dennis.

My intent was that we should ALL hold our candidates responsible instead of being cheerleaders and making excuses for their words and policies.

Here is the thread...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

There is no other candidate who has consistently spoken out for the benefit of people, even when his own future career, personal life and actual life were put on the line.

Now that the tide has turned on the war all the candidates oppose it, now that our liberties are being taken away they look back and forgot who voted for the Patriot Act, now that our deficit with China has skyrocketed and the products we import are not safe they look to solve the problem when they voted for MFN back in 2000.

Whatever happened in Iowa is NOTHING compared to what our nation is facing today due to the fact that others were either influenced or ignorant when they had a chance to vote or speak out on these most important issues.

We need to put things in perspective and remember who is really on OUR side!

3. Yes, he is our hope and surely was not, as is not, falling in line
behind the words of this administration. If another front breaks out in the ME, whether it be Syria or Iran, those who could now be questioning and alerting the public are silent.

2. Tempest in a teapot.
Rotten week for the Kucinich campaign, but there'll be plenty of other opportunities to talk about healthcare.

One thing fishy about the AARP response, though. If it was sent certified mail, then they'd know when it was received and who signed for it. They said "the campaign did not acknowledge receipt of our invitation". Maybe it's parsing words, maybe it means something. We'll probably never know for sure. Probably some dopey volunteer screwed up.

All we have is his word against theirs. I suppose it would be simple enough to settle, but really, what's the point now?

4. It would still be nice to know the chain of events, but it is not
something for which I'll drop my support. Not for profit health care and trying to stop the next war are two important issues where Dennis leaps to the front of the line, there are no others even close.

Something I've thought about myself and look at the map, the political climate is changing with respect to the early states.

"Why get involved in a five-way fight for one state? Why not ignore it and move all over the country while those candidates are focused on one state that only one of them can win? And why waste money when it is plain to see the system is stacked against you in that state?"

5. Kucinich Writes to Colleagues About Oil Law
And what have the other candidates said, I received a reply to my emails from the Obama and Edwards campaigns on this issue. In essence they did not reply, some standard answers on getting out of Iraq, but they have added me to their list for contributions and email updates. Hillary does not have to answer, just look at the polls.

"Dear Democratic Colleague:

An issue of critical importance, the Iraqi "Hydrocarbon Law", was again broached yesterday for the third time in the Democratic Caucus and I want to provide you the facts and evidence to support the concerns I have expressed.

As you know, the Administration set several benchmarks for the Iraqi government, including passage of the "Hydrocarbon Law" by the Iraqi Parliament. The Administration misled Congress by emphasizing only a small part of this law, the "fair" distribution of oil revenues. Consider the fact that the Iraqi "Hydrocarbon Law" contains a mere three sentences that generally discusses the "fair" distribution of oil.

Except for three scant lines, the entire 33 page "Hydrocarbon Law," is about creating a complex legal structure to facilitate the privatization of Iraqi oil. As such, it in imperative that all of us carefully read the Iraqi Parliament's bill because the Democratic FY07 Iraq Supplemental puts Democrats on the record in promoting oil privatization."

6. I think he might have problems with his campaign
Some people on this board were relaying that Kerry had some people in his campaign last time, that encouraged him to make bad decisions, fucked up his campaign in general....quite possibly because they didn't want him to win.....

Dennis is on our side, and considering the powers he is fighting, I could imagine some would pay to ruin his campaign know what I mean?

7. That thought crossed my mind as well, but I just wanted to point
out that whatever happened, this error has only cost the candidate and maybe some of it's supporters. There are far more significant errors in judgement made by other candidates that people are all to willing to overlook, this is minor in comparison.

8. I, too, have heard rumors of moles in the Kucinich campaign
It would make sense.

A mole could do a lot of damage by "losing" mail, "forgetting" to relay phone messages or being rude on the phone, or doing incompetent publicity for an appearance.

17. You've heard about moles in the kucinich campaign from the crazies at PHDC
Ya know the one family that pretends to be be the biggest advocacy group?

They are the ones behind the Will Pitt was a mole for Kerry BS.

Ya know the ones who are now starting a whisper campaign right now against Jeeni Cricenzo because she is running against their guy.

I frequent exactly two political websites, one of which is DU, and the other of which isn't, and certainly is not known as PHDC.

But I notice that you misspelled a word there.

And Kucinich has raised over a million but didn't open an office! What's up with THAT, huh?

:eyes:

*sigh*
