Poll question: What to do if your candidate drops out
If your candidate drops out of the race before your state has its primary, what do you do? (Or what *did* you do, as the case may be.)

I'm wondering about what I'll do on Super Tuesday if Dean officially withdraws before then.

1. one thing that could help me decide
What is the role at the convention of delegates who are committed to candidates who've dropped out?

If they're still committed to voting for that candidate, then I, as a Dean supporter, would hope for him to continue to amass small numbers of delegates. Then, the "Dean wing" of the party could have some influence at the convention.

If they're free to align with someone else, maybe there's not much point in voting for a withdrawn candidate.

4. Stickin' with my man
I'm voting for Clark on March 9, even though he endorsed Kerry, cause I just like him better, and I'm mad at the DNC for rigging this thing so that the majority of voters don't get to vote for the full slate of candidates. i guess history will tell if this was a good strategy for the DNC or not, I'm getting over my grief - YES GRIEF! but I'm still annoyed and this vote is my little way of showing it.

2. Depends on who's leading, by how much, and who else I like.

If things keep going the way they're going, I'd write-in DK.

If it's a two-man race in May (let's say Kerry/Edwards) ...mmmmm...prolly Edwards.

But DK's not dropping out, so it doesn't matter.

5. And then you suck it all up in November, regardless of nominee
and live up to the ABB pledge-even I'm doing that this election--WE are taking OUR country back.
All power to the people.

6. Vote for nominee, work for local Dem Congressional campaign.

A very valid way of handling a candidate at the top of the ticket that isn't quite one's personal cup of tea.

7. Regardless of what happens, I will become more involved on
the local level. In my neck of the woods, we also have a Senate race as well as the Congressional ones. We are looking to reinforce the Dems in our area as well as work to oust the Repuke Congresswoman in the district next door.

8. I'll be sticking with my guy come hell or high water
My number two choice has already dropped out so I'm voting my heart. And I think I'm voting my head too. Maybe the Dean movement isn't strong enough to nominate our candidate this time around. But if we actually are a movement and not just a political internet bubble that has now burst; if we can hold together we can influence the party and see many of the changes we hoped to effect this year come about in the future.

Kerry vs. Edwards: I don't have a dog in that fight. Either of them is infinitely better than Busholini. But I'm still voting for Dean March 9, whatever happens today.
