Will ANYTHING change your mind about your chosen candidate?
I think not.

It doesn't appear that anything negative that gets written about any candidate makes any impression. So wouldn't it make sense to change tactics and instead of poking at the other guy's choice, write positive stuff about your own?

I like John Edwards. I have liked John Edwards since...I dunno, forever. Attacking John Edwards only makes me want to defend him. BUT...reading positive things about other candidates makes me wonder if they wouldn't make good nominees, also.

Just an observation that I am sure will be buried in no time by posts attacking Obama and Edwards and Clinton.

1. I don't "have a candidate"
until the General Election.

My Candidate is the Democratic Nominee - whoever that may be (unless it's Joe Lieberman.)

In the meantime - I hope we don't DESTROY whoever that candidate may be from within.

Go "all of them"!!

I still am an Edwards supporter. But after watching all of the candidates speak... Kucinich had the room on their feet... I will support Kucinich at the Caucus...

9. But that change wasn't caused by something you read here.
That is what I am talking about. I think it is fruitless to attack other people's chosen candidates.

4. Sure it would

In fact it's already starting to. Richardson's insipid debate performances and some political gaffes (gay is a choice? Oh dear....) coupled with Edwards' detailed and sensible policy proposals have me considering a switch of primary vote (but living in a non-frontloaded primary 5EV state that's no great gain or loss).

In fact if I could be persuaded that Edwards would not go too far against free trade I might be on the verge of shifting. The options may seem counterintuitive as conventional wisdom places at least three other options in between those guys on the political spectrum, but my highest priorities are winning the GE and getting good economic stewardship thereafter. Edwards scores higher on at least one if not both than HRC or BO.

I will vote for General Clark (write in) in my irrelevant state primary (Mississippi) but I will vote and wholeheartedly support the dem nominee. I will not bad mouth a dem candidate (unless it is to piss off a carefully selected fellow DUer)

Thanks for your positive post.

10. verifiable Information is important........
and many DUers (lurkers as well as participators) haven't chosen a candidate, just yet.....as many candidates aren't done making their proposal or taking stands on issues.

I think that your op applies to a smaller portion of the DU population than you are possibly assuming?

14. Not likely.
Anything is possible, of course, and any number of highly unlikely scenarios might change my mind.

I think it's ok to express disapproval of a candidate's positions or record.

I also think it's ok to call false propaganda what it is when it appears. When someone is "posting something positive" that is blatantly false propaganda, I'm going to call them on it.

Constantly repeating bullshit talking points without opposition makes it real in people's minds. I don't want the next POTUS to be chosen based on faulty beliefs about candidates.

When people say something positive about their candidate, it should at least be true. Of course, "positive" is often a matter of opinion, and what one person thinks is positive may be a deal breaker for another.

Still, if we spent as much time posting positively, and made sure that our criticism stayed constructive, it might be more productive in the end.

18. I've noticed people changing their mind
but people tend to get really defensive at times and not take the time to absorb what's being discussed.

I will vote for Edwards, but prior to this campaign I was not a Hillary fan, and she's now my second choice.

So, I guess you could say she changed my mind.
