Huckabee returns Obama praise: "intellectual giant" who is the "leading Democrat"
Edited on Mon Aug-27-07 02:31 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
This was in response to Obama praising him last week.

==He saved his kindest words for Barack Obama, who in an appearance on the "Daily Show" last week twice mentioned Huckabee's name, and no others, when asked whether there were any Republican candidates he liked. "It shows that Barack Obama is greatly underestimated as an intellectual giant," Huckabee said, "And we should be thinking very seriously that he is the leading Democrat for having come to such an astute conclusion."==

2. Obama-Huckabee on a Unity 08' ticket for a "new kind of politics"?
Edited on Mon Aug-27-07 02:34 PM by draft_mario_cuomo
If Obama is serious about "unity" having a Republican VP would be a big step toward it. ;)

13. Most of us know only that he was Gov of Ar, lost a lot of weight,
has an interesting sounding name who has said some foolish things on evolution (at least I think that was him.) Seriously, if he were in a room with say 20 other middle aged men, I know I couldn't pick him out.

21. Obama's political style has been likened to Kerrys..
McCain's name was tossed around at one point as a VP possibility by the Kerry Team...

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama floated Huckabee for VP, making the opposition happy.

If this is his idea of "new politics", I don't want any part of it.

22. You mean has the same good manners, integrity and character?
With the back stabbing and swiftboating nastiness this year, we may wish we had someone with Senator Kerry's temperment.

Obama is his own person ad is not Kerry. Odd that you seem to want to make this association so often.

33. My statement includes the qualities I see as relevant between Obama and Kerry..
And NO, I DON't MEAN: "You mean has the same good manners, integrity and character?"

I believe you should get remedial help in reading comprehension.

4. Well, it is just possible that Huckabee isn't a 24-karat asshole
If I had to pick a least-offensive Republican running for President (as Obama was essentially called upon to do by Jon Stewart) I suspect I'd probably pick Huckabee as well.

Not giving him a pass on his Neanderthal views, just sayin'.

9. Why, yes. I also read somewhere that he thinks our obesity problem
in this country is a "security threat" that renders us unable to fight terrorism. Apparently we all need to slim down the way he did, because he envisions us doing hand-to-hand combat in the streets against the Islamofascists. Dude's an idiot.

12. He explained this on Bill Maher
He doesn't disbelieve in evolution, he is more of an "intelligent design" person.

He said he thought it was a stupid question for a presidential debate and stated that he doesn't know how God did it, whether it took 6 days or 6 million years.

As for whether he is the "least offensive", I don't know about that... anti-choice, anti-gay marriage, anti gay adoptions... the list goes on and on...

I think I would pick Guiliani ahead of him on my list of if I had to pick an evil game.

15. Then why did he raise his hand (along with Brownback) when asked about evolution?
He's not just an idiot, but a dishonest idiot. I'd sooner see Rudy or (God Forbid) Romney as President--at least they aren't wacky-religious, and probably believe in science and reality.

16. So he believes in evolution to a limited extent. Not sure that passes my personal 'smell test'.
I am REALLY not an 'intelligent design' person. Intelligent design just doesn't seem that, well, intelligent to me.

34. I don't buy it either.. but
It is not inherently disprovable, like the concept of the earth only being 6000 years old.

If you have to cling to belief in the bible, at least try and make it mesh with science in some fundamental way.

18. Huckabee actually accepted
the "possibility" that man was evolved from apes. I was stunned. But yes, I also find him to be a likable guy. Jon Stewart and Bill Maher obviously do too.

10. Before we get all goopy over Huckster
let us remember that this huckleberry clown actively campaigned for the release of a convicted rapist...who went on to rape and murder again. Why did Huckabee go to the mat for this sadistic piece of shit? Why, because he was convicted of raping one of Bill Clinton's relatives, so it had to be a set up! :sarcasm:

Fuck Mike Huckabee.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huckabee
Handling of the Wayne Dumond case
Huckabee has also come under criticism for his handling of the case of Wayne Dumond, a convicted rapist who was released during Huckabee's governorship and who subsequently sexually assaulted and murdered a woman in Missouri following his release.<18> Dumond's case had attracted national attention in the mid 1990s from critics of President Bill Clinton who felt the former Arkansas Governor had been too harsh with Dumond because Dumond's victim was a distant Clinton relative. Even before taking office, Huckabee met with Dumond's wife and privately announced his intention that Dumond be set free, stating his unhappiness with the way Clinton had handled the case (Dumond had been attacked and castrated prior to his arrest for the rape).<19> On September 20, 1996, Huckabee publicly announced his intention of commuting Dumond's sentence. There was strong opposition to Huckabee's plan, leaving Huckabee in a difficult situation politically.<18> On October 31, 1996, Huckabee met privately with the parole board to talk about the Dumond case. Some members of the board have since stated that they were pressured to re-examine and vote in favor of Dumond's parole. On January 16, 1997, Dumond was granted parole, just five months after he had been rejected. Huckabee released a statement saying, "In light of the action of the board, my original intent to commute the sentence to time served is no longer relevant."<18> Huckabee has denied influencing the parole board in any way, but acknowledges some responsibility for signing Dumond's parole. His full disclosure of the incident is described in his book From Hope to Higher Ground. At the opening of Huckabee's Des Moines headquarters in Iowa, a protester costumed as a prisoner carried a sign that read "Felons for Huckabee".<20>

This can be taken any way you want to. You don't have to follow the OP down the rabbit hole where no matter how right or good Obama is he's shit.

Obama is a Democrat that we should applaud for having the balls to step up to the plate. Just like Edwards. Just like Hillary (sans balls).

Why the OP has chosen one contender to eviscerate here is anybody's guess. But put me down for thinking it stinks.
