I Predict that Kucinich will win the Presidency
If enough of you "nay-sayers" and "un-elect-ables" get off you butts and support the only "True" Democrat and the only one in the race with values and Honesty.
Everyone else pales in comparison.

He is the best friend that Organized Labor has, even if a lot of us don't know it. When I say us, I mean my brothers and sisters in the Labor movement. To be honest, a lot of people don't even know who Kucinich is and those who do are scared off by the msm label of "radical lefty". But I'll spread the word. Maybe he can get a Cabinet post if a Dem gets elected.

15. Participated in an online chat with Kucinich one time...not impressed at all
Kucinich doesn't impress me at all. He portrays himself as a straight shooter...but I found him to be anything but that, during an online chat session one time.

This was during the 2004 presidential primary. I particpated in a chat session with Dennis Kucinich. I submitted 2 questions.

- One, I asked him if he was elected President, and Congress sent him legislation repealing parts or all of the Patriot Act, would he sign it? His response? He starts going on and on about how the Ashcroft Justice Depart was the most right wing Justice Department ever, etc, etc.

I didn't ask him his views on John Aschcroft. I already knew how extremist Aschcroft was. I asked him would he sign legislation repealing part or all of the Patriot Act.

- Second, I asked him what African-American leaders he could see himself appointing to cabinet positions in a Kucinich Administration. I wanted to him to name some African-American leaders that he might see himself possibly appointing to cabinet positions.

He responded by saying he wanted to commemorate the anniversary of the March on Washington. I didn't ask him his thoughts on the anniversary of the March on Washington. I asked him to speak about African-Americans in a Kucinich Administration.

It was a very fustrating experience. I came away from that not knowing any more about Kucinich, that I did before the chat session.

He has said he'll repeal the PATRIOT act. No question there, I don't think.

As to who he'd put up in his cabinet...no candidate answers that question. The best you'd get would be that he's committed to have a diverse cabinet.

this is the one I'd go with.

Kucinich won't even be in the top 3 dems come nominating time. If somehow all the other dem candidates dropped dead or something and he did get the nomination, it would be a Mondale like democratic defeat in the general election.

Maybe one day he can get elected in his own state as a senator or governor, but I doubt it.

27. Dennis Kucinich has the Best Policy Proposals of Any Dem
Dennis's proposals on health care, energy and de-militarizing our economy so we can put our taxes to constructive use are, by far, superior to any other Democratic presidential candidate. He will make a great president, that is, if we don't allow ourselves to be brain-washed by the conventional media which does all it can to belittle him.

33. VERY good man but can't win the general election.
Kucinich is a VERY good man for whom I have great admiration and agree with a lot, but he doesn't have the resources or electoral clout to win a general election. He is also VERY progressive, too much so for the general electorate swung largely by moderate Independents. Far left progressives MUST understand this absolute reality. We can only win the GENERAL election with a broad electoral coalition including a large number of moderates and Independents. That means needing to bring ALL Democratic factions together in the common cause of defeating the right wing R candidate. Right now I'm with Edwards but will strongly support WHOMEVER is the eventual Dem nominee, and EVERYONE else better damn well too or we'll likely get stuck with yet another R for four to eight more years of HELL!

37.  My thoughts exactly. Also, I shook Dennis's hand once, and it was like greeting a dead fish.
No warmth, not even any eye contact. And that was markedly different from the other candidates I'd met in NH in the '04 primaries. It was weird. I don't hold that one instance against Kucinich, but if he makes that impression on other people who go out of their way to meet him, he will actually lose supporters. Usually face-to-face contact works to a candidate's advantage. But it sure didn't that time. But I agree with your post. I'm for Edwards, so far.

40. I met Kucinich - more than once and also shook his hand- more than once
The man looked me in the eyes and made me feel like there was nobody else in the room more important than me. He took his time and held my hand as we spoke. There was a twinkle in his eye when we spoke about subjects dear to him.I noticed that he did that with each person he spoke to.

I also worked on the campaign here in N AZ last election and met him other times, spoke with him on the phone. IMHO he has more spunk than all the others put together.

Dr

FWIW- I also met Edwards at the CNN debate last election cycle. He was certainly friendly as he called over to the Kucinich supporters & kidded with us. We kidded around with him. It was cool...but then a lot has happened in the years since that time.

Unfortunately when you're trying to get elected, it's hard to be 'on' all the time, but that's what voters expect. Maybe he was having a bad night. I am not the unreasonable type. The friendliness factor doesn't matter to me -- I was looking for a president, not a roommate. But it was just frickin weird, and the friend I was with had the same reaction as me.

43. Do you have any money to bet on your claim?
I'd bet $1,000.

In your judgement, you see Kucincich as the "guy". I see through the politial theater and unpassable ideas at this juncture.

Do I agree with him on a lot of issues? Yes. Is he the one that is electable and could actually show leadership qualities to get things passed? No.

If you are serious about your support of Kucinich, don't just type anonymously here and then whine at people that you don't think are as "smart" as you. Take it to the streets and discuss it with real people outside. See what happens.

Good luck.

However, I do think people are superficial enough to be put off by the fact that Kucinich is kind of weird-looking, short and not the world's best public speaker (plus, his wife is a hottie). I wish it wasn't the case but I do think the majority of the electorate really are that shallow.

I'd be overjoyed to be proven wrong though.

Gimme a break. I guarantee if you ask 100 Democrats what the criterion for a Democrat is, you'll get 100 different answers.

54. He will use it to pay back the FEC for his last campaign
Kucinich forced to repay FEC $135,000

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Three years ago, long after Sen. John Kerry had clinched the Democratic presidential nomination, fellow Democrat Dennis Kucinich continued to campaign for the White House. Now, federal regulators say the Ohio congressman has to pay for his futile adventure.

The Federal Election Commission on Thursday said Kucinich, who is again running for president, must repay the government $135,518 in public matching funds that he spent after he had become ineligible to use them.

FEC auditors said Kucinich spent the money between March 4, 2004, and July 29, 2004, when Kerry was officially nominated. Candidates who receive less than 10 percent of the popular vote in two consecutive primaries lose their eligibility for money from the taxpayer financed presidential campaign fund.

scandals to pull out of the closet at an opportune time.

Interesting that Kucinich's office was vandalized ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2951438 ). Was it "only" payback for daring to participate in a gay rights debate as is assumed? Or was the vandalism a cover for a burglary in which one of his many opponents looked for dirty secrets to hang on him?

I would love to see Kucinich win the Presidency. In the meantime, may he continue to speak the truth widely and loudly and stay safe from all who are threatened by this.

Of course, DU is not only composed of those individuals.

Still, there it appears that there is a VAST discrepancy between those who would "love to see Dennis win" and those who have actually worked for him and contributed.

Remember, also, Dennis Kucinich is not accepting money from PAC's, Lobbyists, or big corporations. Of course, there is a price to pay for this limit. THere is also great strenght. Which other candidate can actually claim the same?

101. those who REALLY wants to help the Kucinich campaign...NOW IS THE TIME TO DONATE!! that's right NOW!

you can do it RIGHT NOW on DU/Act Blue.

If those who care about the issues Mr. Kucinich raises donate NOW – HE WILL BE

A TOP-TIER CANDIATE!!

I'm not addressing those who do not support Congressman Dennis Kucinich

and do not agree with him on the issues. I'm addressing those who DO

support Congressman Kucinich and/or do agree with him on the issues:

Donating to the Kucinich 2008 campaign through DU/ACT Blue is very fast.

It's very easy. Do it now!

link:

http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/12518
---------

Some are supporting Congressman Kucinich because they strongly believe he can win. Others are supporting him because they support his agenda (or at least most of it) and want those issues brought to the center of public debate.

Mr. Kucinich does not have the funding of the top-tier candidates. Corporate lobbyist seeking government favoritism for their special interest won’t be writing their $2300 checks paying for access like they do for other candidates. But small donations DO add up very, very fast. That's how the Dean campaign became a significant force in 2004.

So whether or not you are convinced that Congressman Kucinich could possibly win...if you want the issues only Dennis Kucinich raises brought to the public square, if you believe his message of Strength through Peace is important, that the whole question of corporate control of government is important, that single-payer universal health care is important, if you believe American needs fundamental changes; his campaign needs a lot more money then it has in its coffers now.

IF anywhere near half the people who agree with Congressman Dennis Kucinich on the issues sent him a donation -- he would be a major top-tier contender very, very fast:

Donating through DU/ACT Blue is very fast. It's very easy. Do it now! I did...

link:

http://www.actblue.com/entity/fundraisers/12518

He won't be getting a whole lot from the corporate lobbyist buying access for their special interest and paying for favoritism... so ...

PLEASE DONATE NOW ! you can do it RIGHT NOW on DU/Act Blue.

It's fast. It's very easy. Do it now! I did…..

Too many people read "if X happens then Y will happen" as "There is a possibility of Y happening".

Sure, if enough people were to support him Kucinich would win.

However, that isn't going to happen. He is entirely unelectable.

109. I don't think "fruitless" is fair. Triangulation works from all three points.

Kucinich's presence arguably moves the boundary of what gets regarded as "far" left further out, enabling other candidates to run further to the left than they would otherwise.

He won't win, but it's not impossible that he'll achieve something.

And "brownshirts" is, I think, an unjustified piece of name-calling.

Like a lot of people, I watched the debates and formed my opinion about the candidates by what they had to say. All of the hopefuls had good messages but Kucinich had the best message. I support him because as a Progressive I support the candidate who will not cave in the right on issues but stands on a firm progressive platform. Which, by the way, is the position of the majority of the country.

I will be voting for Kucinich because he is the *only* option. Either a Republican is elected and things get WORSE or a Democrat is elected and things stay fundamentally the same.

The only reason Kucinich has no chance is because of numbnut invertabrae like the "naysayers" here. Why do even the most supposedly "liberal" Dems weenie out so quick? I'm beginning to think you wussies deserve the Bush almost as badly as the Republicans.

I'm sorry to say it. I agonize every day about Bush, but are Democrats really primed to elect Hillary? Good lord, save me from the lunatics. They're everywhere. What's even more ridiculous is that people like Alex Jones and the militia fringe are sounding a lot more sane than the "me-too" Dems and I *KNOW* they are insane.
