If you really want the right-wing nutjobs to howl with rage, nominate John Edwards.
Edited on Mon Jul-30-07 01:26 PM by Heaven and Earth
One of the least commented upon criteria for supporting a primary candidate around here is the desire to watch the 26% that still support Bush gnash their teeth and tear their clothes, thereby discrediting themselves even further. It's easy to make the rank-and-file freeper froth at the mouth. Mentioning the word "Clinton" is enough. It's a lot harder to make the corporatists lose their cool, and reveal the selfish agendas behind the self-serving rhetoric in a way that no one can mistake. John Edwards is the man to do it.

We know this, because the corporate media knows this. They've attacked Edwards harder than any other candidate. To give one example, CNN actually defended Obama when the right-wingers claimed that he had attended a madrassa, visiting his school in Indonesia to demonstrate that it was a normal, government-run school. John Edwards has been attacked over his hair, his job, his charities, you name it. But Iowans, at least, are not falling for it, and he remains in the lead in Iowa.

It's easy to understand why the corporate media feels this way; John Edwards hits harder. He says that the time to talk to insurers and the pharmaceutical industry is after you've beaten them. It's true. No corporation, having subverted the system to stuff their massive vaults with embezzled taxpayer dollars, is going to trade that away. What would they trade for? They're already holding the whip hand!

The best part of this is that if Edwards is elected, the corporate mafia can go on frothing at the mouth, and it won't matter. They'll be isolated by instituting public financing of campaigns, buying democracy back for the people. The economic and social anxiety that these gangsters foment to make people cry out for a daddy figure (who will whip the rest of the world with his massive penis) will abate. America can have social reconciliation, economic prosperity, and a respected place in the world, when the corporate protection racket is busted by John Edwards.

The only good winger is a miserably depressed winger.

3. But he has to get the nomination first.
And it doesn't look good for him at the moment.

4. It's so early;
it's still anybody's nomination to win. I think Clinton and Obama will cancel each other out. I would love to see an Edwards/Richardson ticket. Of course, if Gore goes in, the job is his.

31. nobody's perfect. Gore made a huge judgmental mistake when he
picked Lieberman as his running mate. It doesn't disqualify him though. Gore is still my first choice and I could support Clark if he jumped in and Gore stayed out. Otherwise, with the existing field, Edwards is my first choice. I would consider Kucinich, but I have swallowed the corporate media meme and believe he is not electable.

Please reconsider being a one issue voter, especially on that issue. It eliminates most of the field.

15. I'm really leaning that way
If Al Gore isn't going to run, I think I may vote Edwards. He seems to be the one focusing on the issue that bothers me the most: The gap between the rich and the rest of us. I don't like to say "the rich and the poor." We are not poor. We make what most people consider a decent middle class living. But we WORK OUR ASSES OFF for it and have had to struggle every day of our lives for a modest lifestyle. And we are lucky compared to so many others. I see people every day who work longer, harder hours than we do and live in virtual poverty. Then we see CEOs firing people, shipping our jobs overseas, removing our heath care benefits, all so they can rake in even higher profits? Maybe they need to buy another 25,000 sq. ft. summer home? Or maybe their second or third yacht or Lear jet is getting aged and needs to be traded in? Who knows where they even spend the gross amounts of money most of them are pulling in. I mean, come on....multi-million dollar bonuses??!! I would bet most of them don't even "work" eight hours a day! If they can live like this, the rest of us are not getting the fruits of our labors. We're getting the pits. :mad:

If John Edwards can hold on to Iowa, winning there could change everything, just as it did in 2004 for John Kerry. I will do everything in my power to see that come to pass.

Edwards is scaring the crap out of them - They know they can swift boat Clinton, and Obama is already showing the inexperience, Edwards is leading on so many issues and can appeal to the more moderate RWingers as well.

Thanks! :hi:
