Hillary: We see why certain Establishment Folks..: Political Cortex
The current political campaign has become fascinating with two diametrically opposed views on how to handle foreign affairs with diplomatic skill.

Barack Obama cut right through the charade with which the U.S. has been conducting its foreign affairs when he dramatically declared in this week's Democratic presidential debate co-sponsored by You Tube and CNN that, if he were elected president, he would speak with the leaders of Syria, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela and North Korea without preconditions.

Obama made an incisive point in stating that cutting off communication with these countries does not help solve pressing international problems.

When asked for her response to the same question that Obama had answered, Hillary Clinton replied by quickly stating that she would not make any promises to meet with certain international leaders during her first year if she were elected president.

After being asked during ensuing post-debate discussion about her response, and how it differed from that of Obama, she stated with almost dramatic reverence, "I don't want the prestige and power of the president lowered by agreeing to talk to certain leaders in my first year."

Wake up, Hillary. What has happened is hypocrisy of the highest sort at almost every level of the U.S. government.

8. So that's why it's so fucked up. I knew there had to be a reason. And to think, we started out as a
bunch of anti-royalist farmers....

Where did we go so wrong?

2. I just saw on Lou Dobbs pundit segment that Hillary gave the right (experienced) responce
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 06:09 PM by applegrove
while Obama gave the responce that would play to progressives. So it is a toss up.

I think it is obvious that any State Department wouldn't allow a President to be used for propaganda and I understand what Obama meant in that no meetings (with Iran, Syria, Venezuela and Cuba) have not made things any better. So it is a toss up for me too.

I think we need more robust discussion in the dem primaries so we can see how strong each nominee is. So I say play on. Let's have more dust-ups on more issues. Both Clinton and Obama have shown themselves to be tough in their beliefs.

10. That's why we have a great group of candidates.
I think Clinton and Obama are both fighters. This whole "feud" is bullshit. They both respect each other and will support each other in general election.

I'm proud of both of them. AND all of the candidates on our side.

It sucks that this primary season has started so early.

7. She also voted for racial profiling
She voted to support the provision that prevents people from being sued if they "tip" the government about swarthy skinned "terrorists".

This is the problem with Hillary. She is so afraid of any attack on her as "weak on defense", that she is over-reacting and not standing for the kind of real change we need.
