3. Sure, why not?
I'm bummed Clark dropped out. He could've stuck in there through March 2, at least. For a beginner, he was doing a heckuva job.

4. I'm for DK all the way, but must admit - Sharpton is a fantastic speaker.
On many issues, his position and Dennis' are quite similar.

But in the pathetically limited format of these "debates," where there is little interaction, no time for real exploration of issues or follow-up, and really no time for anything more than 60-second sound-bytes -- Sharpton is just unbelievable. Brilliantly witty & powerfully substantive at the same time. Truly an extraordinary talent for this kind of oratory.

5. No matter the administration
They should have Sharpton be the ombudsman to the president. A good swift kick in the oratory will keep whomever it is honest. :)

"Mr. President, that advisor is FULL OF IT!" :D

6. Sharpton is going to create a backlash
He needs to tone down the Bush liar rhetoric a bit.

7. Sharpton is awesome
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 10:01 PM by GodHelpUsAll2
If more people would call it like it is instead of trying to tiptoe around serious problems we would be a lot better off. Bush said "bring it on" Kerry has said "Bring it on" Sharpton is Bringing it on!

8. Primaries are about the BASE
We get ours motivated, they do what they do, then we bring in the middle on the ISSUES where Bush is seriously WEAK. Especially on LYING like a RUG!!!

11. We have to appeal beyond the base to win '04 election
Sure partisan dems love Sharpton's over the top attacks on Bush, but what about the other voters out there. If Sharpton's attack is pick up by major media it could create a backlash.

16. For Great Justice!
The Democrats are still the majority party in this country-- despite the recruitment efforts of the Rethugs over the last 20 years.

If the Dems are the majority, why are the Repubs winning so much? Easy. THEY GET THEIR BASE OUT TO VOTE! They are able to get them to the polls to support their candidates and/or agenda. This is something the Dems have been struggling with for YEARS, and is the major reason why we keep losing the big elections.

All the Democrats need to do is MOTIVATE their base supporters and give them a REASON to vote-- IOW, a candidate who speaks their language on key Democratic issues like the jobs, healthcare, taxes, and civil rights.

Once we do that, we can easily motivate our people and get them to vote. And then, victory will be ours.

Yup, it's that simple. :)

21. Both are extremely important to this campaign.
Dennis Kucinich
Dennis keeps directing the focus toward the kinds of systemic change we need to implement if democracy is going to survive in our country. We all KNOW the system is badly broken. He does a FAR better job than anyone of pulling attention to the creative things that can and should be done to fix it, affecting every issue area. Without the real work in Congress he has already done and the detailed plans he has laid out, the national dialog would be shallow, empty of real substance, full of superficial nice-sounding rhetoric.

The substantive dialog around Dennis IS taking place, however. It is just not in the NY Times or on your TV set (because it is forbidden).

He is easily the most intelligent candidate in the race. He has demonstrated real leadership in Congress on the most critical issues faced by Congress during this administration: •opposing PATRIOT Act and •opposing the Iraq War Resolution. On both votes it was he who built a coalition of Congressmen/women in opposition while there was almost NO evidence of opposition organizing on either issue in the Senate.

(It is on the "Nay List" of courageous minority votes like this that we voters can find the people that we must continue to reelect to Congress regardless of what other candidates say and regardless of political party.)

Believe me. The ruling oligarchy takes him seriously and have done all they can to prevent the people from learning about his ideas and accomplishments.

Al Sharpton
Al is a master of the one-line zinger. In a few selected words delivered in just the right way, he calls attention to hypocracy and also reminds us of our Racist history, past and present.

In different ways both men act as the conscience of America, reminding us of how we can do better.
