Join Cindy on 23rd
march/drive from Crawford, Texas, to New York City. Participants in this Journey for Humanity share the goals of ending the occupation of Iraq, impeaching Cheney and Bush, restoring New Orleans, and funding human needs at home and in Iraq and Afghanistan. The march has already made big news in several states. Watch this video of a heated discussion between Cindy and an Alabama chickenhawk.

The march will include stops at the district offices of House Judiciary Committee Members Mel Watt, Howard Coble, and Bobby Scott along the way, before arriving in Washington, D.C., on July 23rd. Below is the route and a link for more information and to get involved.

The Orange Revolution Begins July 23

On July 23, 2002, the head of British intelligence reported that Bush and Cheney were intent on invading Iraq and planned to "fix the intelligence and facts around the policy". Five years later a million people have died in Iraq as a direct result of these lies with no end in sight. Torture has been institutionalized, habeas corpus eviscerated, and illegal spying made routine. New Orleans lies devastated along with the Constitution and the rule of law. And Bush and Cheney are making a mockery of the Democrats' feeble gestures towards accountability.

Enough is enough, and this July 23rd we will launch a new phase in the movement for peace and justice. We call it the Orange Revolution because starting that day wearing orange will signify that you want Congress to START IMPEACHMENT and STOP THE WAR. The majority of Americans, who want to see Bush and Cheney impeached and want an immediate end to this war, are made effectively invisible by a complicit media. Wearing orange will be our signal to each other, and to the world, about where we stand. Anything orange will do: a t-shirt, a wristband, your shoelaces. Get creative and send us your ideas. Here are a couple of great items you can wear designed specifically for the Orange Revolution:

Orange "Drive out the Bush Regime" bandanas.

Orange "Impeach Bush and Cheney" t-shirts:
the Oil Law that the US government is pressuring the Iraqi Parliament to pass. See video. Led by the Iraqi Federation of Oil Unions (IFOU), this demonstration charged that the proposed Oil Law surrenders Iraqs economic sovereignty to multinational oil companies and demanded that the Iraqi Parliament reject it.

The people of Iraq are united in opposition to the Oil Law, but the Iraqi Parliament continues to face intense pressure from the Bush Administration. The law would open two thirds of Iraqs oil to foreign control through contracts that could last as long as 30 years. Originally written with the assistance of US officials and contractors, the law is also one the benchmarks imposed by the US that the Iraqis must meet in order to receive continued reconstruction aid.

Drop the Benchmark! Take action in solidarity with the people of Iraq!

If you live in the United States, please call or write to your elected officials today and tell them to drop the oil law benchmark and cease all U.S. pressure on the Iraqis to pass the Oil Law. Tell them it is unacceptable that the US has any role in determining the future of Iraqs oil industry, especially when it is being written to primarily benefit US companies. Use this link to email your members of Congress, or reach your members by calling the Congressional Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and asking for your members office.

Bill Moyers Airs One-Hour Impeachment Special on PBS

On Friday, PBS aired a one-hour special on impeachment featuring Bruce Fein, Deputy Attorney General under Ronald Reagan and well-known Republican, and John Nichols, author of "The Genius of Impeachment" and well-known Democrat, both arguing for impeachment. Watch it here.

Use this and other videos to organize events in your town or your house:

Cities for Peace Day and Concert for Impeachment

July 31, 2007, is Cities for Peace Day in Washington DC! Come, March, Hold Your City's Sign! Cities for Peace is a campaign that has helped people all over the country persuade 255 city and state governments to pass resolutions calling for an end to the occupation of Iraq.

AfterDowningStreet.org and Democrats.com ask you to help us speed up the end of the Iraq occupation by participating on July 31 in DC. Please come and hold Cities for Peace signs for your community or your neighbors' community! We will march to the White House and deliver resolutions, petitions, and referenda. And we will accompany locally-elected officials to Capitol Hill where they will give testimony on the Local Costs of the Iraq War.

We are endorsing, promoting and participating in this exciting event and we need your participation as well: http://www.citiesforpeace.org

The day's events will be followed by a concert for impeachment at the 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C.

How interesting.

Be sure and tell us all how AGAINST the war you are, and be extra double sure to keep writing your congresspersons and sending off those donations!

It's just as expensive to wine and dine the new Democratic K Street whores as it was the old Republican ones.

Real solutions -

Gee, what is Kerry up to these days?

DO tell, he is SUCH a fighter.

Dream on, but try and come up with something more original then "gee, look what the site is called."

Hey, I think Harry Reid talked tough today.

That's got you all excited, huh??

Calm down, he'll back off soon enough.

Gave one hell of a speech you must have missed. Said a year ago that when he tried to get anti-war legislation passed, only 13 people voted for it, the rest saying that the country wasn't ready. He said that 1000 people have died since then. "Are we ready yet, or do another thousand have to die" he said.

Meanwhile, I'm still putting my money on the tough little Mormon. Give em hell, Harry!

Edited on Mon Jul-16-07 10:21 PM by LittleClarkie
If she's going to run for office, she's going to have to get a thicker skin.

It almost seems like she interpreted disagreement with people just not understanding. I find that annoying to say the least.

I see that her new blog doesn't allow comments, so she won't have to deal with people reacting badly to her comments anymore.

Apparently she doesn't understand why people would ever take offense at being insulted. Of all the nerve...

63. Here are the rules:
Constructive criticism of Democrats or the Democratic Party is permitted. When doing so, please keep in mind that most of our members come to this website in order to get a break from the constant attacks in the media against our candidates and our values. Highly inflammatory or divisive attacks that echo the tone or substance of our political opponents are not welcome here.

You are not permitted to use this message board to work for the defeat of the Democratic Party nominee for any political office. If you wish to work for the defeat of any Democratic candidate in any General Election, then you are welcome to use someone else's bandwidth on some other website.

Democratic Underground may not be used for political, partisan, or advocacy activity by supporters of any political party or candidate other than the Democratic Party or Democratic candidates. Supporters of certain other political parties may use Democratic Underground for limited partisan activities in political races where there is no Democratic Party candidate.

Do not post broad-brush smears against Democrats or the Democratic Party.

I am sure you will have no trouble finding plenty of posts insulting the Democratic Party with a broad brush in many of the same ways you would see on other nameless sites. I am not going to spend my time this afternoon cutting and pasting for your amusement. You know the posts are there, I know the posts are there. It's very obvious that it is getting old and probably won't be tolerated for much longer (that's just my guess). You are free to follow Ms Sheehan and chant along with her about how horrible the Democrats are, but that doesn't mean it will be well received here. Buh-bye

37. I have to find it LSK,
Edited on Tue Jul-17-07 01:57 AM by seasonedblue
it was in her last or almost last farewell to Kos and the Democratic Party.

Here, I found it:

I was a life-long Democrat only because the choices were limited. The Democrats are the party of slavery and were the party that started every war in the 20th Century except the other Bush debacle. The Federal Reserve, permanent federal (and unconstitutional) income taxes, Japanese Concentration Camps and, not one, but two atom bombs dropped on the innocent citizens of Japan were brought to us via the Democrats. Dont tell me the Democrats are our Saviors because I am not buying it especially after they bought and purchased more caskets and more devastating pain when they financed and co-facilitated more of Georges abysmal occupation and they are allowing a melt down of our representative Republic by allowing the evils of the executive branch to continue unrestrained by their silent complicity. Good change has happened during Democratic regimes, but as in the civil rights and union movements, the positive changes occurred because of the people not the politicians.

45. Wow! So now, supporting impeachment of Rethugs is "anti-Dem"?
Some of the responses your post has generated are truly amazing!

So let me get this straight, during the past week the Senate vote was 97-0 in support of broad-brush condemning of Iran, paving the way for further aggression in the Middle East. (a proposal introduced by a Dem who goes Ind when getting into office is at stake, I might add)

But Cindy Sheehan, who wants all the aggression and occupations and warring to END, now, and sees the present regime pushing buttons in the white house as a serious and immediate threat to World Peace, gets condemned for her politics?

Seems I've stepped into a twilight zone here.

I stand with Cindy, along with all who oppose the warmongers in our government.
