Durbin on Senate floor pointing out none of amendments to last two defense bills required 60 votes
Mitchel McConnell just spoke on the Senate floor saying that the Republicans side of the aisle would be requiring cloture, 60 votes, for the amendments to the defense bill--Durbin specifically mentioned Webb-Hagel bill requiring more rest time for the soldiers between deployments.

1. McConnell is unbelievable
How he can say the things he says with a straight face.... in his own twisted way he is very good. I miss Frist the hapless.

2. The dems should push their bills and their amendments.
If the pukes want to shut down the senate, force them to do it publicly. And, force them to do it because they won't allow a vote on an amendment that guarantees that out soldiers get rest time between deployments.

6. What exact procedure are you recommending?
It seems the Democrats are doing what they can. There will be a cloture vote and we will see who votes against cloture.

I do not understand the criticism here.

8. Losing a cloture vote doesn't mean the bill has lost.
It means there is no time limit on the debate. If the dems lose cloture, they don't have to drop the bill. They can continue to push it. Let the pukes stop all senate business because they refuse to allow a vote on a bill that is clearly in support of our troops. The longer the pukes drag out the debate, the worse they look.

My recommendation is that the dems not fold their tent because they lose the cloture vote. Keep this bill in the headlines. Keep it in the headlines that the pukes don't support allowing our troops to have a decent interval between deployments. Use the pukes votes against them.
