Lieberman's response to an email demand to Impeach Dick Cheney
This was a response to one of his constituents -

****************

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about Vice President Dick Cheney. I appreciate the time you took to share your views with me.

The government of the United States is unique because it structurally decentralizes, divides, disperses, and limits power. Article II, Section 4 of the United States Constitution outlines the provisions regarding impeachment. The framers adopted a narrow view of the English practice of impeachment, and it has only been carried out on a select few occasions in our nation's history. Congress must first confront whether the conduct in question falls within the constitutional parameters of "treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors" before contemplating impeachment of a federal official.

Elections have consequences, and that is why we should be extremely reluctant to employ impeachment except for exceptional circumstances. Impeaching Vice President Cheney would undoubtedly not succeed but would distract Congress from achieving progress on important issues such as health care, education, the environment, and global warming.

My official Senate web site is designed to be an on-line office that provides access to constituent services, Connecticut-specific information, and an abundance of information about what I am working on in the Senate on behalf of Connecticut and the nation. I am also pleased to let you know that I have launched an email news update service through my web site. You can sign up for that service by visiting http://lieberman.senate.gov'>http://lieberman.senate.gov/">http://lieberman.senate.gov and clicking on the "Subscribe Email News Updates" button at the bottom of the home page. I hope these are informative and useful.

Thank you again for letting me know your views and concerns. Please contact me if you have any additional questions or comments about our work in Congress.

1. He didn't even mention the war, serieslea#05?
Or using the US military as proxy for his vested interests?

6. many dem campaign websites in 2006 barely mentioned the war...he is not alone
sometimes i had to google search sites to find any mention of iraq on many sites, and then it was something like "we need to make sure each soldier has armor and "i will make sure each soldier gets veterans benefits" but nothing on the issue of the war itself. he is not alone.

10. I suspect they are better. Besides, some of those that ran an a campaign of ignoring Iraq

3. I really don't think it'd be too difficult to find "treason, bribery
or other high crimes and misdemeanors" in Cheney's case. As for distracting congress, that's just a fuckin joke. They are makiing zilch progress on any of these important issues anyway. Might just liven the place up.

Loserman is a total and complete rectum. My only concern about impeaching cheney is do you really want the boy king to actually be in charge? Things have gotten this fucked up with somewhat of a restraint on him. How bad could it get when he is calling the shots.

9. "exceptional circumstances."
I guess lying about the casus belli to start a unilateral war of occupation, gross war-profiteering, outing CIA agents, destroying our Federal Government aren't exceptional to Joe.

If only there was a blow job involved....
