Obama’s Iowa News Conference

PELLA, Iowa – Senator Barack Obama held a press conference here this afternoon, in the backyard of a home bedecked with American flags and patriotic bunting, and for 16 minutes he managed to almost entirely avoid the “C” word.
That, of course, is Clinton.
Mr. Obama and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton are both spending Independence Day in Iowa, but their respective campaign trails never came within about a two-hour drive of one another. With more attention being shined upon Mrs. Clinton, and her traveling companion, former President Bill Clinton, Mr. Obama held a news conference to attract network television cameras to his stop here.

4. Holy Straw-Grasping, Batman!!!
Looking at the photo, we have zero idea of how many folks are in front of, or on the other side of, Obama.

I guess the whole taking-a-drubbing-on-contributions thing really has some grasping a straws.

8. Oh, so the picture in the OP are all reporters..
They are the ones with the pads, pens and photogs..

And the people standing in front of the house, the signless Obama supporters, are 'thee' crowd..

Now, I get it! :hi:

Have you bothered listening to what he talks about? He has more original ideas than the others.

11. How many times are you planning to post the same message?
You appear to be posting the same snarky comment on multiple threads. If you truly want to know more about Obama and how he thinks, read his books. There is plenty of 'original thought' included.

Welcome to DU, BTW. :hi:

21. Pathetic...
Do you have nothing good to say about YOUR candidate? Do you have no other thoughts of your own other than to make cheap slaps at the candidates you obviously fear?

Wm, I think that comment was directed at someone else.
Surely, no sensible DUer would ever accuse you of anything like that...

...would they?

I grew weary of that some time ago. It was directed at the new demgirlamerica and her posts that are devoid of any substance whatsoever.

14. All candidates visit smaller venues in states like Iowa and NH
this says nothing about Obama's ability to draw phenomenal crowds, as has been well documented.

15. I swear to Gawd
I wish someone would lock both groups of you DU'ers into a room someplace, maybe that big cage from the Mad Max movies, until the primary is over. This stuff is getting ridiculous.

For the record, I do not mean all Clinton or Obama supporters. Just....... well you know which ones.

I don't suppose begging you both to stop it would help at all? Please?

I'm beginning to wonder if we're going to be able to elect a democrat after the primaries are over. Seriously, too much anamosity everywhere.

This kind of shit is making me swear off DU for good, and I know it can't be anything but alienating to well-intentioned newbies. Both sides need to fucking grow up (and I say this as an Obama supporter - I've seen some shit posted here by Obama-maniacs that left me gagging and sour-pussed, too)

18. According to a poster below the story, the crowd was around 1,000
Edited on Sun Jul-08-07 09:47 PM by ripple
or roughly 10% of the Fairfield population. Not bad at all!

The link the person posted wouldn't work, or I would have included it.

It's more than obvious that the photo shared in the OP was of the media, rather than the supporters in attendance.

20. If the pictures of news conference and people in front
of the house area really from Pella, I'd say it's a pretty good turnout. Pella is home to a very conservative Christian college and a very conservative Christian population. If Obama can draw a crowd of even several hundred there, he's doing just fine.
