since nobody ever votes based on the candidate's occupation and education level, more information would be needed.

| 3. Depends -- married with children? |
|
The electorate is generally not kind to single techie types, and they need a "family guy" angle to get anywhere. Actually it's not just techies really, but there are some occupations you can get traction with even if you are single -- e.g. public prosecutor -- especially those that have already resulted in some name recognition.

| 7. neither of those degrees would disqualify him/her |
|
But it certainly isn't enough to get him/her elected. The last president with an MBA is bush and the last engineer was, I believe, Carter. bush, of course, is a disaster and Carter, good man that he is, is widely believed by many to have been an ineffective president.
I believe there is probably a bottom threshold of education that a candidate needs to be electable -- a college degree at the minimum -- and I believe advanced education probably helps (although that may be a personal bias of my own). But MBA, masters, law degree... I don't think most people would care.

| 8. I'd kinda like someone with some technical savvy to clean up the voting technology. . . |
|
These lawyers are mostly clueless about IT security.
But what the heck do I know. . .?
I voted for a meditating physicist in '92 & '96 just 'cause I thought a little enlightenment and scientific prowess might help the country.
Yes it was a total throw away vote but I live in the bluest of states and I knew Clinton would win anyhoo.

| 12. Carter had a B.S. from the naval academy and served on nuclear subs. |
|
Now that was back in '76.
Assuming Bloomie runs, I don't know that his degrees are important.
I think his lack of national political experience does disqualify him IMHO.
The presidency is no place for on the job training.
