Please tell me this couldn't (or won't) happen. President Cheney

I actually had this nightmare two days ago, before the latest Cheney shenanigan about "not being in the Executive branch."

All along, many people have said that Dick Cheney is a loose cannon, a shadow President, and the real puppetmaster pulling W's strings. He's constantly shown himself to be belligerent, tereasonous, and above the law. He advocates torture, reveals CIA operatives to discredit their spouses, maintains a vice-like grip on the White House and our foreign policy objectives.

My dream involved me in a huge protest march in defiance of martial law declared by Presdient Cheney. I was in a huge throng of people in Washington (I live in Oklahoma) and we were confronting military units. It was all vague and fuzzy. Surreal.

The pieces of the puzzle were that Bush was dead. It was unclear if it was a "regular" assissination or some supposedly "terrorist" act. The subsequent turmoil triggered Presdient Cheney to invoke the much-discussed emergency powers that were much discussed on these boards. Circumventing Congress and the Courts to maintain "stability," President (Emperor) Cheney effectively declared martial law and was quickly jailing opposition and outspoken press as enemy combatants "to maintain order." He said they were fomenting unrest in a time of crisis and needed to be stopped before the country tore itself apart. Many TV stations went dark. Turned off at the source.

I seriously had this dream. It was Orwellian and frightening.

President/Emperor Cheney had cancelled the 2008 elections stating that "it was a time of national crisis and elections had to be postponed." That was when I found myself with about 4,000,000 people in a crowd trying to storm the White House and confronting armed troops who were shooting into the crowd. It was not a peaceful march.

Please reassure me that I was just having a bad night.

3. Cheney did have Bush killed in order to trigger the crisis

At least that was the way I sorted out the images and impressions of the dream the next morning.

Then the news of Cheney's latest stunt hit the news.

It sent a chill down my spine.

He has dirt on *everyone*. No way is Cheney going to mess with Bunnypants.
Anyway, the Dick is President in actuality.

The only thing beyond that could make him more powerful is possibly becoming
Pope, though I don't think he's Catholic.

There was a time that was true, but I believe that time has come and gone--Poppy has become a blathering old man who cries at the drop of a hat.

I will say they're probably equally as evil, but I think the power edge still goes to the old man. And with
the rate at which the Dick's atherosclerosis is progressing, I doubt he'll live longer than Poppy will.

(although we all know he's really the President, he doesn't have the schedule of one).

It could. It might. At least the first part. I'm not so sure about the huge throng of people descending on Washington, though you did also say Many TV stations went dark. That might be enough of a catalyst to get people into the streets.
