Bloomberg-Hagel, or vice versa?
BY JAKE THOMPSON
WORLD-HERALD BUREAU

WASHINGTON - New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has taken a step toward a possible independent presidential bid, but he hasn't laid any groundwork recently with a potential running mate, Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel.

Hagel hasn't spoken with Bloomberg since the two dined together last month in Washington, Hagel spokesman Mike Buttry said Wednesday.

Hagel, a maverick Republican who has criticized his party, declined to say after that dinner what he and Bloomberg discussed. But the meeting fueled speculation that they may have talked over a Bloomberg-Hagel - or Hagel-Bloomberg - independent campaign for the White House.

On Tuesday, Bloomberg made the first move toward making half that ticket a possibility.

1. Bloomberg-Hagel. An anonymous "top official" in NE reportedly said
Hagel would have absolutely no problem with taking the VP slot. Plus, Bloomberg + Hagel = Bagel. It just makes too much sense! Think of the marketing possibilities!

2. Bloomberg/Hagel because no one spends half a billion dollars of their money to be someone else's VP

3. Neither. Hagel will be the Republican nominee.

5. This reminds me of the people pushing a Kerry-Mccain ticket last time around.
Just what kind of Kool-Aid has people convinced that any Democrat is going to take the country down in flames? Given the last few years, how is it that the Democratic Party is still labeled as the radical party?
