THEY are doing it again!!! Referring to Democrats as "the Democrat Party!!!"
Edited on Mon Jun-11-07 04:44 PM by Up2Late
I know, they are doing this just to Piss-off Democrats like me, but I think it's time to take action!

By "They," I'm referring to "president" Bush today while being interviewed by a reporter about his BS Immigration Bill, and now I just heard Senator Jon Kyl (R-Arizona) do it too, while being interviewed on NPR by Robert Siegel, again about the BS Immigration Bill!

Link to the Kyl audio: (Audio for this story will be available at approx. 7:00 p.m. ET)

Yes, I have no doubt that they are doing this on purpose, so what to do?

I think we need to spread the word among ALL Democrats to start calling the Republican Party "the Republic Party."

Think about it.

I think this would be a very good, very subtle, but very annoying, passive-aggressive way to counter these stupid, and very annoying "Democrat Party" Republican passive-aggressive attacks.

What do you all here at DU think?

1. I've been doing this in forums for a few months now
and you'd be surprised at how fast that missing "ic" returns when the shoe is on the other foot.

While I don't advocate stooping to their level most of the time, this is small stuff and can be done without sacrificing any of our integrity.

My spelling returns to normal when theirs does.

And yes, it does get under their skin.

5. Call them on it, every time you see it. Don't let it slide.
Call the office of the legislator in question, tell the staffer, politely, that the legislator looks like an ignoramus because he or she is using the word incorrectly, and is embarrassing him/herself.

Call the media outlet doing the interview and ask why the reporter didn't correct the term, or why the interviewer failed to ASK WHY the interviewee was deliberately misusing the word.

Let people know that we notice it, we think it's CHILDISH, and it says alot about their level of maturity and by inference, their ability (or lack thereof) to handle weighty issues of the day.

The real reason, though, that they do it is this: It's all those pigfuckers have got. They got nuthin' else, frankly. Buncha losers, fizzling out, and hurling schoolyard insults on their way out the door.

virtue of democracy; crediting you with it. You're a party of democrats. Whichever way they try and slice it, they always end up complimenting you on your democratic credentials. Poor so-and-sos. Have you no heart?

In fact, I think it might be an idea to rename yourselves, 'The Democrat Party' (slogan: 'We're proud to be democrats'), cutting the ground from under their feet.

People here at DU are still pounding on fellow Democrats when we have these a-holes to deal with.

I truly despise all things Republican, edited because I acknowledge there may be an exception or two, I just can't think of one now.

That's one pisses me off too.

11. It's time for someone to put that great video on here of the Congressman...

I can't recall his name.. but the video was WILDLY popular on here!!!!

I think he's from... ...NY maybe??.. I can't remember...

He's on the floor during a lengthy spiel about something or other --- and he continually says "THE REPUBLIC PARTY" over and over again really (((stressing))) RePUBLIC without the "can"..

Anyone recall that video???

It doesn't change the idiotic comments of Kyl, but watching it will sure make you feel better!!!

24. Done and done
I've been referring to it as the 'Republic Party' since this mess began in 2004 (at least, that's the first time I became aware of the "Democrat" pill the GOP threw out there). There's usually a split second look of... disconnect in the listeners face when I do. Once or twice I think they were about to call me on it, but then thought better of it.

I rarely voice pejoratives of any kind against any one person or group, so this is my tiny, passive-aggressive way to do so.

27. Bush does it on purpose, as if we didn't know that.
A reporter called him on it after the State of the Union message, I believe, and he offered his usual half-assed "I don't speak English too good" schtick, along with "I didn't mean it as a putdown." He returned to it not long after, though he no longer had the fig leaves of "me dumb" and "me not know" to fall back on. He likes to needle, as every press conference shows. Plus, mentally he's only twelve.

As for variations on "Republican," my favorite was suggested by a DUer whose name I've forgotten. He or she offered "Rublican." I like it because (1) it sounds silly and (2) "it's only two letters!" -- the other side's illogical excuse for using the wrong name for the Democratic Party.

They will keep doing it, though, no matter what we say.
