Is any criticism of Obama "racist?"
I just mentioned on a thread that an elderly person told me at a Democratic event that she would not walk ten feet to hear Obama speak. I was told that was racist.

Racist? To not like a candidate?

Yes, in the OP of the above mentioned thread, the OP proudly proclaims five people switched from Clinton to Obama. Why should I not now classify that as sexist?

1. It depends (edited)

If that was a Democratic event, we are assuming it was a Democrat who said it. Maybe it's just one of those typical nasty primary battle responses.

2. That's ridiculous.
That is ridiculous, and probably said by someone who doesn't actually know what racism means. It's crap like this that waters down legitimate accusations of racism.

4. Not inherently, but many of his critics are racist.

6. Well, it comes down to intention, which is none of our business really.
If she wouldn't walk 10 feet to see Obama because she just didn't care for him, then thats okay. If it's because he's black, then it's racist, I suppose.

I would personally say I wouldn't walk 10 feet to hear Aaron Neville.... but it's not because I'm racist, I just don't enjoy his music. I could say the same about Garth Brooks or any number of artists of varying ethnicities.
