What did you think of the format of the debate?
I thought it was a lot better than the first one where they were really pressed for sound bites.

Here they were given more time and Blitzer gently nudged them when they did what politicians love to do: answer the question that they think they ought to be asked rather then the one that was. And when he could not get any reaction, he just moved away from the candidate. At least, for me, such moves were very obvious. I think that Richardson flunked the most since he thought that this was going to be his chance to do better.

Of course, I did not watch the Republican debate except for the "Reagan" and "hair cut" sound bites, but I could not imagine being prodded by the hyper Chris Matthews to be even close to a civilized event.

One sad thing, though: only people who subscribe to cable could watch either debate.

1. It was 200% better than the one with Matthews! I understand
there will be another on in SC on July 23rd. Let's see if there is continuous improvement.

2. It was ok. I think it was sided toward the 3 front runners the most
Clinton, Edwards, and Obama were center stage and seemed to have more time than the end of the row candidates... but then again corporate media is biased and wants to pick the winner before its even begun because they know who will help them pad their pockets the most.

3. It gave Gravel and Kucinich a lot more time
then either ever had. And Gravel blew it when asked what he would do in his first 100 days if elected, just ranted on all of them.

5. I missed the last part of the debate... I'll watch the last 10 mins
tomorrow. Yes, they had more time. But I think by side lining certain candidates, it shows real fear from corporate elitists on people wanting real changes that are better for America. Not just middle of the road politics as usual.

6. Is this how many minutes each had?
Biden had less than Richardson, Kuchinich and Dodd yet he did the best as you can see from many posts here.

9. no more corporate moderators. None of them are impartial.
Current employment in the media industry should be a bar to the moderator's job. Bringing Walter Cronkite back from retirement would be fine.
