Bush Sees U.S. Armed Forces In Iraq For Next 50 Years
Bush envisions U.S. presence in Iraq like S.Korea

Wed May 30, 2007 2:54PM EDT
By Steve Holland

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush would like to see a lengthy U.S. troop presence in Iraq like the one in South Korea to provide stability but not in a frontline combat role, the White House said on Wednesday.

The United States has had thousands of U.S. troops in South Korea to guard against a North Korean invasion for 50 years. Democrats in control of the U.S. Congress have been pressing Bush to agree to a timetable for pulling troops from Iraq, an idea firmly opposed by the president.

White House spokesman Tony Snow said Bush would like to see a U.S. role in Iraq ultimately similar to that in South Korea in which "you get to a point in the future where you want it to be a purely support model."

*** - But, but, but.... N.Korea and S.Korea were in a "civil war" weren't they? And we all know that there isn't a civil war going on in Iraq. Right? And this "support role that Tiffiany Snowjob speaks of?" Now I thought we were training the Iraq Army to take it over completely for themselves. Well, until they started using that training we were giving them against us, I mean.

1. Bush didn't sell the Iraq War that way.
Bush said we would leave Iraq once a stable government was in place.

3. Yeah, well, Bush also sees himself as a 'war president'
as a person history will vindicate as a visionary leader ahead of his time, as 'the decider', as unwavering because he is on the correct course, as 'the commander guy', and 'a uniter, not a divider'.

The only troops of ours that will be there in 50 years are the handful that were kidnapped and never found.

5. We have no business in Iraq - period.
I suggest the incomplete monster embassy building be turned over to the Iraqi soccer team.
Any other suggestions for its use?

9. Building Materials Shortage ..
They (The Iraquis) should scrap it and use the much needed materials in more constructive projects.

8. And I am sure the House will vote yes to spend the money.
GOP or Dem. If we just could get enough in the HOuse that did not like endless wars and handing out money to their home town. Our money. Do we really need over 700 bases around the world? What are we doing in these countries? It is running an Empire what ever they call it. I guess it makes these men in the WH and Congress feel more important to feel they are running the world. Men seem to have stayed the same in my life time. Nuts for power!!!!!and feed the people and their money into the meat grinder.

10. I'm sure Mr. Hitler thought
He was going to hold Poland for at least fifty years. I would be glad to bet money that 50 years is a little over-optimistic. I just don't think the American Empire has it in her.

13. That should be enough time to suck
every last drop of oil out of Iraq. The Neocons always wanted a permanent U.S military base/presence in Southwest Asia.
