I'm sponsoring a Democratic Party fund raising event in less than
ten days. How can I do this now in clear conscience? I am ashamed and embarrassed. What am I supposed to say now? Please donate to the Party that funds the Iraq War in full? If the Dem leadership thinks the money will keep pouring in now as it had been to this point, I think they are in for an unhappy surprise. So goes the word in this little corner of the USA.

1. My party (Democratic) has its flaws.. but it is by far the BEST party there is.

And I'm extremely proud to say that I have never voted for a Republican ---- and never will.

4. Greenies throw boring parties..

Sorry.. but I once went to one and they sat around eating tofu dip, listening to old Greatful Dead albums and smoking some funny wackie tabaccie.

No.. really, I did go. I even got hit on by a guy who looked like a cross between Willie Nelson and Dennis Kucinich!

3. Greens & Dems
If Greens would grow up and stop attacking Dems, the two party system would BE Greens & Dems and we wouldn't have to worry about votes like today. Republicans would be the 20% fringe that are ignored, the way the left is now. If Greens want to end this war, take on the goddamn REPUBLICANS who keep LYING to their constituents and keeping them confused about the best course in Iraq.

10. maybe i'm leading a sheltered life? i don't recall the greens attacking dems
over anything other than supporting the war and that criticism certainly wasn't limited to members of the democratic party. The Pacific green party has most definitely been taking on the GOPosse as has the National. And i think it became painfully obvious yesterday that goddamn REPUBLICANS don't have a monopoly on LYING to their constituents.

14. So they aren't going to keep trying?
They all LIED about wanting to end the war, and are secretly in cahoots with Bush and Skull & Bones? They aren't going to continue to try to set a deadline and get the troops out?

Did you actually HEAR what Jim Webb said during the campaign? He never promised to end the war abruptly. Cutting off funding wasn't even an issue in 2006.

You want to get quotes where any of them promised to end the war within a week of being elected?

I'm not finding these LIES you speak of.

5. Personally
I would cancel the event, but that is just me.

I won't give a dime to the Party itself, but rather to individual candidates.

6. Cancel it
At some point, we need to stop letting OUR party kick us in the nads. There needs to be some sort of downside or they're just going to keep doing it.

15. You're still here?
If you don't support the Democrats, as you've been spamming all over the boards, then why are you still here? Don't you have some place better to be?

9. For your local party?
If this is a local thing, do it! I won't stop working our local cause but outside of that, they can call someone else.

12. I suspect what happened in DC is very far removed from your local party
And if you need to, sell it as 'taking back our party' ... 'working for the little guy to be heard' ...... those are not exactly how I'd say it, but that's the gist.
