Goodling pushed out career officials.

The Los Angeles Times notes that Monica Goodling’s tenure at the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys “appears to have been crucial to facilitating the plan to fire U.S. attorneys. Former colleagues said that she prevailed upon the head of the office, Michael A. Battle, to replace two long-serving officials who probably would have viewed the firing of prosecutors without cause as highly suspicious, and helped install a fellow Regent law school graduate as a replacement.”

1. All that authority, all that responsibility
Given to a woman with the memory skills of a strikingly dull cocker spaniel.

If I were on the committee, I'd insist on lead-off questioning, and just walk back through her resume and experience that landed her in such an important position. Who hired her? Who recommended her? Who were her references? What questions was she asked during her interview? What wealth of experience and broadness of knowledge did she bring to her job? Could you please tell us about the most significant event in your life up until you were hired?

2. Good point; point out her total LACK of experience, and then wonder

what she was doing there to begin with.

Edit to add, someone's doing that very thing right now!

3. Excuse me? Wasn't that her "boyfriend" that she installed?
Typical airhead - like EH who just went OFF on Rosie on the VIEW.

****Prediction: Rosie will not be back after today just as Star was not permitted to return to work out the end of her commitment.****

5. Hmmm. I saw another thread about Behar going off; sounds like a fun
day on ABC. Sorry I missed it, but will look for the video later today.

6. God, Elizabeth was the most vicious I have ever seen her. Of course
WaWa will stick up for her and can Rosie (I believe).

Joy began with a takedown of * but then Elizabeth kept interrupting her. Rosie was silent for quite a bit of it. But Elizabeth continued and struck a nerve with Rosie and drew her into it. I cannot quote their words, it was fast and furious. Hope you can catch it later.

4. She's been described as a real perfectionist
I'd, again, walk back through her testimony; all the "I don't knows" and "I don't recalls" and ask her if she would think that was satisfactory if a subordinate of hers gave her those answers? Is that as much as you asked from your staff, performance-wise? Was it sufficient for them to be good persons, or did they have to do a competent job, as well? What would you have said to someone in your office who gave such lame answers, and why isn't it fair to apply that standard to you? After all, it's possible to surprise someone at work with a question; you've had days to prepare for your testimony here today. Have there been any "surprising" questions?
