My fellow Americans, I am speaking to you tonight from the heart of my bottom.
4 years ago today I declared that combat operations in Iraq were over. Unfortunately, too many in the Democrat leadership took this to mean that combat operations in Iraq were over. And then some sailor went and hung that "mission Accomplished" banner behind me and even more in the Democrat party assumed that meant that our mission was accomplished, even though I fired the sailor who hung that banner without my approval.
Three years I told the enemy to Bring It On, and I think it speaks to my leadership skills that even the enemy takes orders from me.
For two years I said repeatedly that we would stay the course. Then I said we never said stay the course, so that means I never said stay the course, so I wish the treasonous Democrat leadership would stop saying that the course isn't working, since we've only been on this course since I said that we've never been stay the course. See, we're winning, and the reason we're winning is that this is the winning course that we're now going to stay on unless I decide not to stay the course any more, or unless the Democrat congress says that I can't stay on this course forever.
So that is why I will veto this bill, that Kar, er, I mean, I call the "surrender" bill. I have called on Congress to compromise, by which I mean give me as much money as I want, off the books, for as long as I want. When they agree on such a compromise, the troops will then be supported.
