Associated PressRomney pressed to offer better answer on IraqBy Holly Ramer, Associated Press Writer | April 25, 2007
SALEM, N.H. --A Republican who survived November's
Democratic sweep of the state Legislature warned presidential
hopeful Mitt Romney on Wednesday that more Democratic
victories will follow unless he offers a better answer on Iraq.
"You have not really zeroed in on the main issue that bothers
the people of New Hampshire -- especially independents in
New Hampshire -- and that's the Iraq war," said state Rep.
Bob Elliott, R-Salem, said after hearing Romney praise
President Bush's strategy in Iraq.

whether or not Iraq is stable enough to begin the withdrawal
of U.S. troops.
"We will know if it's working in a matter of months," he said.
"Well before '08, we'll be on track to giving certainty to the
American people."
"I don't think he handled it well at all," Elliott said later,
adding that he plans to continue asking Romney the same
question as the campaign progresses.
