Why was the body of the Romanian/Isreali Professor able to be released for a funeral
and the parents and family of the other victims can't even see their children? Some how this doesn't seem fair.Surely they could at least release one at a time!
I realise that it can never be a completely fair process but it does seem as though preferential treatment was applied here as well as some questionable competence. These are registerd students and teachers. It should NOT be that difficult to identify them.

2. According to Judaism, the body has to be buried as quickly as possible
Perhaps the family made a request so they could bury him in a timely fashion.

5. But the other families are also requesting that and they are not
being given the bodies.I respect the religious practices of all the victims and think they should all be respected.

6. I was in tears last evening when I heard the father of a murdered student
state that the morgue wouldn't let him view his daughter. That's unforgivable, IMO.

8. I didn't know that. I am keeping news off the TV because I have a 6yo.
My heart aches for all the parents - and I share their outrage in being prevented from their last view.

9. Absolutely. If it had been my daughter I probably
would be in jail today for the tirade I would have thrown! The morgue's excuse according to the father of this girl was that their viewing facilities were limited! whatever.

10. I don't know that parents should be able to see a freshly autopsied
body of a gun shot victim before it is respectfully prepared for burial.

11. Congress shall make no law
Concerning any religion.

Carried down to the local level - no jurisdiction shall make any law which places one religion over another.

It is a matter of constitutional trampling at the local level.

13. What about the respect owed to the other families? Don't they count?

15. Of course they do
I imagine that it is so chaotic and painful for all involved. Decision makers have to have some sort of morbid remains triage. Considering what a hero he was in this case, and the fact that he was a Holocaust survivor it's not that far-fetched to think that honoring him would be on their minds.

It's such an insane horrible situation for everyone involved. I can't imagine the logistics involved with managing these sorts of details, and alhough we would like everything to be perfect and fair, orderly and organized it's probably not possible. It could be random which crime scene was processed first. How do you decide if this classroom or that is first? Why not the stairwell? Is it fair to the first body to wait until the last is processed? Who's to say? I won't judge those who have this task. I certainly could never do it myself.
