Weeeee let's arm the teachers with guns
Edited on Wed Apr-18-07 01:21 PM by 59millionmorons
The latest asinine comments I have heard today on crazy RW radio is we should arm all the teachers. Yes this is the answer because it is only your average joe that goes off his rocker and does these types of things. School teachers are all sain and upstanding citizen's. Right Mary Kay, right Pam Smart etc etc etc. I can see it now some teacher having a bad day locks his students into a room and shoots them all just because little Timmy started a spitball fight. Can the RW get any more stupid? Did I hear correctly that this guy was going to be a teacher.

1. I'm glad the chairman of my major wasn't armed when I attended
college. I would've been a virtual shooting gallery.

2. I would definitely not agree with arming someone against his or her will
But the prohibitions against qualified permit holders carrying weapons at schools do no good at all.

3. I guess the best way to fight cancer
is to ensure everyone has it.

4. This makes the assumption that they are marksmen who...
always hit the bullseye and unlike the police do not get rattled when engaged in a shootout.

5. Arm the women, disarm the men
should be a recipe to reduce both gun violence and abuse against women and children.

Maybe all guns should be pink with pretty flowers and ribbons on it. Won't be such a substitute penis if its associated with women.

6. Because teachers are immune to mental illness.
And they all secretly want to teach so they can become proficient in small arms weaponry. Maybe we need people who major in criminal justice and minor in physics/mathematics/history/molecular biology, etc.. teaching our kids. :eyes:

9. I'm a teacher (and, I like to think, a reasonably good one): But trust me,
me with a gun is a bad, BAD idea...

11. I think it's a great idea....
If the teacher CHOOSES to do want to, wants to be trained and range tested...

I see no reason why a college professor cannot have an option to defend him/herself.

I would prefer that the weapon be mandated to be concealed if possible.

12. Well, that's one way to ensure good behavior in my classroom.
I'd just drop my gun on the desk.

Knowing my luck, it'd go off and I'd end up shooting the pencil sharpener. :eyes:

13. As a teacher, I know I really shouldn't be armed during my second period class
Seriously, I'm convinced a good pistol whipping would set more than a couple of them straight.

14. oh, right -- I can't even hang onto a pen for longer than 3 months!
It would be just one more thing to keep track of -- besides lecture notes, assignments, and course handouts.
