On Bush's watch, we've had 1) the worst natural disaster, 2) the worst foreign attack on our soil,
3) the worst foreign policy strategic mistake this nation has committed, and now 4) the worst mass shooting in our nation's history. I'm not blaming ALL of this on him, but I'm starting to wonder how many more 'worsts' we'll have to stomach before his term is over. And whether The Universe isn't trying to tell us something.

11. He's cleared more brush than any other president...
and taken more vacation days, too. A man's got to know his limitations.

9. Not to defend Bush, but the worst natural disaster in the US was
the Galveston hurricane of 1900, with between 8,000-12,000 deaths, and Viet Nam was arguably a worse policy decision--although Viet Nam was really several consecutive administrations making bad policy decisions.

10. We still don't know the TRUE count of Katrina
A lot of people are listed simply as missing. The "Official" count only involves actual bodies.

16. Sort of true, but we're not talking about thousands of people.
I admit I haven't kept up lately, but when the number of bodies was around 1500 or so they added the number of confirmed dead from other places to the total. There aren't large numbers of missing people. A lot of confusion and, frankly, ignorance, came about because of the "missing" lists, which were several thousand long. Some people misunderstood these lists as the number of people that no one could find, but these lists were only people that someone somewhere was trying to find. I almost put my parents on one of those lists, but they finally got a phone connection to call me. As more people tracked down relatives, many of whom had evacuated to other states, those lists shrunk.

Plus, the missing lists included large numbers of people already in a morgue, since bodies weren't identified easily in many cases.

I don't know the current tallies, and I don't remember the numbers exactly, but there are around 1800 believed killed from all states, and maybe a couple dozen people unaccounted for, last I heard. There aren't six thousand missing. I found a link from August of 06 that lists 135 missing from Katrina and Rita http://www.dhh.louisiana.gov/offices/page.asp?ID=192&Detail=5248 , and a Wikipedia entry that 17 are still missing. I don't know how old that number is, or how accurate, but that's the type of numbers of people still unaccounted for.

There were also fantasies about hundreds or thousands being washed out to sea, but such stories were clueless of New Orleans geography. It was slightly more possible on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, but there weren't that many missing, and there was no dramatic evacuation after the storm as in New Orleans for people to get lost during.

12. JMO, but this sort of thing diminishes what happened today
REAL specific circumstances led to this horrible conclusion. IF some of those circumstances where "the culture formed out of this administrations policies and leadership", it's worth discussing.

But IF that's the case, no one knows it right now.

13. In keeping with the "Freeper Thought Process"
(I know it really doesn't exist...Freepers don't think for themselves, they drink Kool-Aid.)

At any rate, in keeping with the precedents set previously by RWers, I would say God is punishing America for being a sinner. We've left Bush in office for too long, he's a bad man, a sinner, and we're being punished for it.

There. Now you know.
