The 10 Worst Presidents? George ain't on the list.
1. James Buchanan (1857-1861)
He refused to challenge either the spread of slavery or the growing bloc of states that became the Confederacy.

2. Warren G. Harding (1921-1923)
He was an ineffectual and indecisive leader who played poker while his friends plundered the U.S. treasury.

3. Andrew Johnson (1865-1869)
He survived impeachment after opposing Reconstruction initiatives including the 14th amendment.

4. Franklin Pierce (1853-1857)
His fervor for expanding the borders--thereby adding several slave states--helped set the stage for the Civil War.

5. Millard Fillmore (1850-1853)
He backed the Compromise of 1850 that delayed the Southern secession by allowing slavery to spread.

6. John Tyler (1841-1845)
He was a stalwart defender of slavery who abandoned his party’s platform once he was president.

7. Ulysses S. Grant (1869-1877)
Serving right after Johnson, he presided over an outbreak of graft and corruption, but had good intentions.

8. William Harrison (1841)
He was president for all of 30 days after contracting pneumonia during his interminable inaugural.

9. (tie) Herbert Hoover (1929-1933)
He was known as a poor communicator who fueled trade wars and exacerbated the Depression.

9. (tie) Richard Nixon (1969-1974)
Though politically gifted, he will forever be associated with the Watergate scandal and his resignation.

10. Zachary Taylor (1849-1850)
A political novice, the war hero is entirely forgettable as president.

A Survey of Major Polls
U.S. News examines five polls and determines the 13 lowest scoring presidents (including Jimmy Carter at 11th).

26. They'd be generous to put W on any future list of presidents
After all, it's Cheney who was doing the job. He's the one that should be voted upon.

14. That's what I was thinking....
they can't really rate Bush until his pResidency is completed. Who knows, maybe all of his policies will prove to be the correct ones, Iraq will turn itself around, the economy will reverse itself and the budget will balance itself in less than two years? Hey, it could happen.

NOT! (Borat joke ;) )

No, they have to wait until the moran has packed his things and squatting in our White House. THEN I want to see where the moran places on the list. I'm betting closer to first than tenth. ;)

7. Question from the cheap seats
How did William Henry Harrison get on that list? 30 days in office, what did he do? And Zachary Taylor, he lasted one year what did he do to get that dubious distinction? Whoever is running that poll must've gotten a C- in history.

This list is worthless.

And George W. Bush should be #1 on that list.

15. Bush could easily replace Buchanan as the worst
Buchanan certainly didn't do well with the inevitable war between the States and ending slavery. He was a Constitutionalist who thought secession was illegal as well as a war to stop it.

Funny thing about him, he respected the Constitution. He personally opposed slavery, yet waited for the Supreme Court to make a decision on the legality. He did however side with the slaveowners in the end as the economy was in shambles and the country was headed to fight itself. To blame him for what had been rolling momentum for decades is disingenuous.

Buchanan certainly had his flaws, but he didn't lie to get into a war, disrespect the Constitution and actually make moves to try to destroy it like Bush has.

20. It is not disingenuous to blame him for his collusion with proslavery in Kansas
four years before the Civil War; and I do not believe that his actions in that travesty support your argument that he respected the Constitution. Neither the Constitution nor the rolling momentum of decades obligated any president to so openly and actively push the interests of a sectional minority over those of the nation as a whole; especially not when he was striving to palm off such a colossal and egregious instance of vote fraud and political chicanery as the proslavery government in Kansas was widely known to be, even by its own adherents. I believe the best you can say for Buchanan's respect for the Constitution is that he respected it when he found it convenient to do so.

27. Buchanan's misaligned Constitutional subjective decisions don't compare to Bush's
I'm no great fan of Buchanan by any means and indicated that he fell down with the pro-slavery side as the whole nation was inevitably tumbling into war. I just think Bush could easily replace him as the worst President this country ever had just on Constitutional policies or the lack thereof.

25. There is nothing.....
left for Bush to do in order to prove himself as the worst.

None of the other 10 on the list have caused so much death, destruction of the U.S. Constitution, lost a city, the worst terrorist attack inside the country, using governmental agencies to support his political party, etc...you really cannot compare Bush to the others on the list. It's not even close...Bush is the worst of the worst!

Grant has gotten a bum rap historically speaking. His Presidency was not a failure. He was not one of the great Presidents (though one of the greatest Americans), but he is certainly not bottom 10 material...

Bush isn't on the list because according to their guidelines, he can't be yet.

It's too soon to judge the current one, but for past presidents, the verdict is in. U.S. News has averaged the results of five polls to make a gallery of the worst chief executives.

There can be no worse person who managed to be called, "Mr. President" than this ASTOUNDING fool.

If Richard Nixon will forever be associated with the Watergate scandal and his resignation, WHAT THE F*CK will be said of Bush?
