3. OMG Margaret Thatcher is a warmongering cretin. NO! Pelosi is much more ...

learned and diplomatic. She brings in the best leadership skills to the table. She can be firm but she also knows how to compromise and build consensus.

Ask the average Labor Brit what they think of that "rode hard and put up wet" nasty old war horse, one each, Maggie Thatcher? :puke:

NO, IMO Nancy Pelosi is not "like" that heartless and crass warmonger ... not at all. :(

11. I agree with you re both of them!
Maggie spent 11 years undermining our precious welfare state; practically destroyed some of the best things in British culture; and of course was Ronnie's best friend. And moved our political climate to the right, to the point that Blair could be elected as a 'Labourite'. I still loathe her with red-hot hatred! Ask anyone on the UK forum what they think of her!

5. I agree and she got there on her own too.
I want to see a woman president before I die but I can't get excited about Hillary Clinton. While no doubt she's a talented politician does anyone really think that if her name was Hillary Rodham she'd even be a United States Senator?

6. Yes I do. Look around you there
are a lot of really dumb senators. She is smart and I know that she really cares for kids. She was a good mother and she was a good wife. Stop berating her. The fucking war will be over soon and she would be a good president. Better than we have or would have if she is not elected. Edwards is my guy but if he doesn't make it I will go for Hillary. I have misgivings about Obama. Not because he is black because I was a cheerleader for Deval Patrick.

7. I'm not denigrating Hillary Clinton's intelligence--and yes, I'll vote for her if she's the nominee.
I'm impressed with her intelligence but have never been impressed with her political skills--these are two different things.

Maybe she suffers by the inevitable comparison with her husband--who wouldn't--but I've always found her way too obvious.

8. Pelosi...
.. just seems to get better and better.

And if we're going to talk about great women in government, Claire McCaskill is one to watch IMHO.

9. I like Claire McCaskill
I even met her and contributed to her campaign last year when her
chances were considered to be none and less than none. I think she's
perfect for Missouri, but not on a national basis. She is too straight-
laced and conservative for the Democratic mainstream. That'll play in
Jefferson City, but not in Chicago.

And I do indeed think Hillary could have been elected to the Senate as
Hillary Rodham--maybe even by a bigger margin than she did as a Clinton.
Maybe not because she was such a great candidate (although she has done
a decent job as Senator as far as I can see), but because the New York
Republicans only sent their second string out against her. Rick Lazio
in 2000 and Ms. "where is page ten" in 2006, who dropped out of the race
in favor of someone ever grayer in profile.

10. I admire Pelosi very much, and she does NOT remind me of Margaret Thatcher,,,
Thatcher was more like a cleverer version of Bush!
