The Ideal Government
I've been working on an idea for the ideal global government. In the age of globalization, this is possible, if unlikely.

First, a populous of a nation would have to vote to join. After the vote, the society has to meet certain criteria to make sure they are stable enough. These would have to be laid out in greater detail, and I don't have the time or the will to do it now.

The government would consist of a global federal government, 7 provinces, and many states, each state being what is now considered a nation or country. The provinces would be North America (with China), South America, Europe, Africa, Northern Asia, Southeast Asia (with Australia) and the Middle East. (By keeping China with the US and Canada, Southeast Asia becomes more stable and less likely to be bullied.) All citizens could be given PDA-like devices for voting to ensure that there would be no voting discrimination. All voting would be completely computerized, one computer in every state with a semi-centric system (one central computer, one backup in every province.) Every state has a governor, every province has a president, and the planet has a leader. Each level of government has a legislature and a court system. The global government largely sets precedents and goals, handles taxes, and serves as a board to resolve arguments (keeping small militias as necessary). The provincial governments are in charge of such things as local disputes, trade, economy (described in detail below), and for meeting goals set by the global government. State governments are similar to state governments in the United States, more in charge of implementation than for real decision making.

All religions would be welcomed as long as they obeyed two rules:
1) No religion could sponsor self bodily harm.
2) No religion could sponsor the harming of others.

The economy would be the most radical part. Currency in terms of money would be abolished. Every person would be guaranteed a home, a means of transportation, a job, basic amenities, and basic luxuries. To gain more luxuries and amenities, a person gains credit through working. Every job contains a certain salary as determined by the global and provincial governments, voted on by legislature and approved by the executive, subject to veto by popular vote by the population.

Transportation would be electric rail cars, more or less, with a public rail system over modern roads. Two parallel rails would run above ground, carrying "cars" connected to the rail. No person would own a car. At any point along the track, a person could request a car through their PDA or through a public terminal. They would input their destination and not have to drive. No records would be kept regarding voting record or transportation destination by the government.

Thats all for now... comments?
